More about the BMW IX1
The smart design of the BMW iX1 comes with a stylish finish, sharp lines and angled headlights giving even the standard model a sporty edge. The front of the vehicle hosts the distinctive double kidney grille and slim adaptive LEDs. The dynamic design includes smoked glass in the rear of the vehicle for privacy and an unmistakably modern statement.
The interior of the iX1 includes a glitzy dual-screen layout on the dashboard, jam-packed with features and capable of receiving over-the-air updates like your smartphone. The driving position within the vehicle is comfortable, with a good vision of the whole road.
The seats in the vehicle are spacious and slide back a long way to increase the comfort of taller passengers and drivers. The rear seats also divide into a 40/20/40 split which enables you to fold down each seat individually and benefit from additional space.
The forward visibility is good in the iX1, helped by a high-up SUV driving position. A reversing camera and front and rear parking sensors come as standard on all models, while a 360-degree camera system can be added as part of the Technology Plus pack. These added technology options are ideal for those intending to tow, as you have a clear view of your surroundings during trickly manoeuvres.
What's my Towing Capacity?
The towing capacity for the BMW iX1 is 1200kg, allowing it to tow a cycle carrier, trailer, or small caravan. It is important to remember that not all Electric Vehicles are homologated to tow, so you must refer to the VIN plate on your vehicle before booking your towbar fitment. Please bear in mind the addition of a towbar to your Electric or Hybrid Vehicle may impact the range that the battery is capable of.
Which Towbar is best for my BMW iX1?
There is a range of towbars available for the BMW ix1, meaning that you don't need to compromise on the features you most desire from your Towbar.
The fixed flange towbar is an excellent option for those who do not wish to remove the Towbar after they have finished towing, although the chunkier design is known for causing some interference from the rear parking sensors. The fixed flange towbar is great for pairing with towing accessories such as bumper protector plates and bolt on cycle carriers. The accessories use the bolt on plate at the rear of the towbar meaning the driver is able to use the accessories at the same time as towing.
The fixed swan neck towbar has a thinner towbar neck to the fixed flange towbar and therefore is less likely to be detected by parking sensors; however, this is not guaranteed. This is a great option for those who prefer a sleeker-looking towbar but do not want to remove it after towing is completed. The fixed swan neck is compatible with all ALKO stabilisers and can be used with all cycle carriers that clamp on to the towball.
Finally, detachable swan neck is the perfect choice for those who want to protect their vehicle's aesthetic. Once towing is completed, the towbar neck can be removed, and the Towbar will appear practically invisible. The towbar neck is removed by unlocking the neck and using a twist and push action. The detachable towbar is also compatible with all ALKO stabilisers and all clamp on style cycle carriers.
