The BMW X6 has a range of driver assistance systems available that benefit the driver when towing, such as Trailer Assistant which makes manoeuvring your trailer or caravan much easier. Driving Assistant Professional is another safety feature that involves a camera and radar-based assistance system that controls a range of functions including Active Lane Guidance, Emergency Stop Assistant and Lane Keeping Assistant to name just a few.

What's my Towing Capacity?

The BMW X6 was built to tow with a generous towing capacity of up to 3,500kg meaning nothing is off limits and the X6 will take it all in its stride without fail. Due to there being several models available, the best way to receive an accurate towing capacity for your vehicle is by checking your vin plate. This is usually located under the bonnet or on the passenger door sill. Our sales team will be happy to help if you need any further assistance.

Which Towbar is best for my BMW X6?

There are two types of towbar available for fitment to the BMW X6, both of which are fully functioning and fantastic for towing, although each has its benefits, depending upon your requirements.

The fixed flange towbar is an excellent option for those who do not wish to remove the Towbar after they have finished towing, although the chunkier design is known for causing some interference from the rear parking sensors. The fixed flange towbar is great for pairing with towing accessories such as bumper protector plates and bolt on cycle carriers. The accessories use the bolt on plate at the rear of the towbar meaning the driver is able to use the accessories at the same time as towing.

The detachable swan neck towbar is the perfect choice for those who want to protect their vehicle's aesthetic. Once towing is completed, the towbar neck can be removed, and the Towbar will appear practically invisible. The towbar neck is removed by unlocking the neck and using a twist and push action. The detachable towbar is also compatible with all ALKO stabilisers and all clamp on style cycle carriers.

Will it need a bumper cut?

When fitting your towbar to your BMW X6 our engineer will need to remove the bumper for the duration of fitment but no bumper cuts or alterations are required and the bumper will be refitted back to the vehicle once the installation is complete.
