More about the BMW 3 Series
The BMW 3 Series uses its X-Drive technology to provide the most enjoyable driving experience for those who love to adventure. The Estate car adapts its all-wheel-drive system to allow for a perfect drive in the most challenging road conditions. It uses its flexibility to distribute its torque to the front and rear axles where necessary.
It also recognises and immediately responds to over and understeer, making driving the BMW 3 Series a pleasure rather than a chore.
With all the clever technology included in the BMW 3 Series combined with the luxurious design, there’s no wonder they are still such popular cars amongst their competitors, even after nine years on the market.
What’s the Towing Capacity of the BMW 3 Series?
The BMW 3 Series Touring Estate has a towing weight of approximately 1700KG; however, due to the vast number of models available in the 3 Series, we would advise referring to your VIN plate for an accurate capacity. The best way to receive an accurate towing capacity for your vehicle is by checking your vin plate. This is usually located under the bonnet or on the passenger door sill. Our sales team will be happy to help if you need any further assistance.
Which Towbar is best for my BMW 3 Series?
We offer the full range of Towbars for the BMW 3 Series F31, with each Towbar offering its advantages.
The fixed flange towbar is an excellent option for those who do not wish to remove the Towbar after they have finished towing, although the chunkier design is known for causing some interference from the rear parking sensors. The fixed flange towbar is great for pairing with towing accessories such as bumper protector plates and bolt on cycle carriers. The accessories use the bolt on plate at the rear of the towbar meaning the driver is able to use the accessories at the same time as towing.
The fixed swan neck towbar has a thinner towbar neck to the fixed flange towbar and therefore is less likely to be detected by parking sensors; however, this is not guaranteed. This is a great option for those who prefer a sleeker-looking towbar but do not want to remove it after towing is completed. The fixed swan neck is compatible with all ALKO stabilisers and can be used with all cycle carriers that clamp on to the towball.
The detachable swan neck towbar is the perfect choice for those who want to protect their vehicle's aesthetic. Once towing is completed, the towbar neck can be removed, and the Towbar will appear practically invisible. The towbar neck is removed by unlocking the neck and using a twist and push action. The detachable towbar is also compatible with all ALKO stabilisers and all clamp on style cycle carriers.
Will my 3 Series need a bumper cut?
There are no modifications needed on the standard bumpers to fit the Towbar to BMW 3 Series. However, different bumper models may require a bumper cut during the towbar fitment. If you are unsure if your vehicles bumper is standard, please feel free to contact our sales team for further advice.
