More about the BMW X5
Driving assistant professional provides optimum comfort and safety during the most critical or monotonous traffic conditions. Relieving the driver from the task of driving and increasing the safety and comfort of every drive, the assistance system can take control of the vehicle when needed. The technology includes several features including, hill start assist, road sign recognition, emergency brake assist, steering and lane guidance assist, cruise control, distance control, speed limit assist, lane-change warning, and parking assist.
When hill starts are proving difficult, the system steps in and provides the support required to make the manoeuvre quick and easy. Taking control of the brake, the system secures the vehicle for a short time whilst the driver prepares to restart the vehicle and prepare to drive off.
Road sign recognition steps in when in slow-moving traffic; the camera system scans road signs and represents the processed date on the display in front of the driver. This helps the driver to devote their full attention to driving rather than being distracted looking at the road information and what speed limit they should be driving at.
The xOffroad package offers four off-road modes that adjust the all-wheel-drive precisely to the current ground conditions. The four settings include sand, gravel, rocks, and snow, allowing the driver to feel confident no matter the terrain. The xOffroad package provides optimum traction even on unsurfaced roads, making the drive smooth and consistent.
What’s the Towing Capacity of the X5?
The BMW X5 boasts a generous towing weight of approximately 2700KG. However, this can be subject to change depending on the model of the vehicle. To find an accurate towing capacity for your vehicle, please refer to the VIN plate located either under the bonnet or on the passenger side door sill.
Will it need a bumper cut?
The fixed flange towbar and the detachable swan neck towbar do not need a bumper cut to be made on the standard style of bumpers. However, the engineer will have to remove the bumper during the installation, although this will be refitted upon completion. Due to different bumper trims being available on the X5, there may need to be other modifications made; if you are unsure if this applies to your vehicle, please contact our sales team, who will happily guide you through your options.
Which Towbar is best for my X5?
We offer the detachable swan neck towbar and the fixed flange towbar for the BMW X5. Both styles of towbars are great for towing but provide different options to help tailor to the driver's needs.
The fixed flange towbar is great for those who prefer a permanent towbar and don't want to remove the neck once towing has been completed. The fixed flange towbar is chunkier in design and is often the cheaper of the two towbars. The fixed flange towbar has a backing plate to the rear of the Towbar, which allows for towing accessories to be bolted to the back of the Towbar; this allows the driver to tow and attach an accessory to the backing plate at the same time. Please be aware that because of the design of the Towbar and depending on the position of the rear sensors, there is sometimes a disturbance with parking sensors when the fixed flange towbar is fitted.
The detachable swan neck towbar is the perfect fit for those who want to remove the towbar neck when they have finished towing. The simple twist and lock mechanism on the towbar neck allows for a simple removable when it comes to packing away the Towbar. If your X5 is equipped with parking sensors, then the detachable Towbar is a sensible choice as depending on the position of the sensors, the fixed style could cause an interference. The detachable swan neck is ALKO compatible and, therefore, can be used with all ALKO stabilisers without purchasing an ALKO ball as an extra.
