More about the Transporter Model
What was once just a van used to get from A to B, the Transporter has evolved into the must-have vehicle for those adventurers desperate to pack up and explore. From camping to bike holidays, the Transporter is the perfect fit for those who lead an active lifestyle. Pair the Transporter with a towbar, and you are all set to go.
With more space than ever before, the Transporter is often the base for some of the most sought-after camper van conversions. The Transporter 6.1 Panel Van has one of the biggest cabs within the medium van range. Please note that we cannot fit towbars on some conversions, so don’t hesitate to get in touch with our sales team to check before booking.
When it comes to modernising the Transporter, Volkswagen didn’t hold back with adding 21st-century technology. Like most new vehicles, lots of clever technology is added to make driving easier, more enjoyable, and intelligent. Trailer Assist and Park Assist are just two of many additions to the Transporter’s technology, but these two additions are perfect when it comes to towing.
Trailer Assist does exactly what it states, assisting with your trailer. The driver no longer needs to rethink the situation when towing a trailer; it will automatically do it. This new system makes it easier to reverse precisely in a straight line.
If off-roading is a bit for you, the Transporter will support you with its 4motion all-wheel drive; in addition, the Transporter has a generous wading depth of 300mm. These features make it simple to head into the back and beyond and explore with your Transporter.
What’s the Towing Capacity of the Transporter?
The Transporter has the maximum towing capacity available of 2500KG. From cycle carriers to caravans, there is nothing off-limits when towing with the Transporter.
Which Towbar is best for my VW Transporter?
We offer both the fixed flange towbar and the detachable swan neck towbar for the Transporter. Depending on your towbar preferences, each style has its own benefits.
The detachable Towbar is a favourite for those who prefer to remove the Towbar once towing has been completed. This swan neck style of Towbar will protect the vehicle’s aesthetics, as once the neck of the Towbar is removed, the rest of the bar appears almost invisible.
The fixed flange style is a great option if you add towing accessories such as a bolt-on cycle carrier. Although this type of Towbar is not recommended for any vehicle with parking sensors.
Will it need a bumper cut?
When fitting a towbar to the Transporter, there are no bumper modifications required; however, if your Transporter has non-standard bumper trims, there may need to be an incision made during fitment. Our informative towbar engineer will guide you through the fitment process before the installation begins, and they will also answer any queries you may have. If you are unsure which bumper style your Transporter is fitted with, please contact our sales office, where our helpful sales team will help.
