More about the Volkswagen Taigo
The Volkswagen Taigo boasts an athletic appearance with a bolder base, its front end commands the roads with its continuous LED spanning grille, and a matching light bar on the tailgate. The Volkswagen Tagio is eye-catching from every angle. The optional panoramic sunroof lightens up the inside of the cabin and adds extra charm. On hot days the sunroof tilts open to let in a bit of fresh air or can pull back if you really want. If the sun becomes too bright the sunroof can be covered with the blind, allowing the driver and passengers to be comfy no matter the weather.
The Variable luggage compartment floor provides easy access to whatever luggage there is in the boot. The tailgate load sill is fully level with the boot floor making it easy to slide items out without lifting. The boot floor level can be adapted to suit the needs of the driver and passengers.
The Volkswagen Taigo is bursting with innovative driving assistance technology, from power-assisted steering to cruise control, the systems work hard to eliminate the stress from driving. The power-assisted steering adapts the steering to suit the driving speed, whether that’s slowing down to the park or out on the open road making for easier and more comfortable driving. Other advanced technologies available for the Volkswagen Taigo are Trailer Assist, Rear View Camera, Parking Sensors, Park Assist, Electronic Parking Brake, Auto Hold, Area View, Cruise Control, Driver Profile Selection, Sign Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Side Assist, Lane Assist, Front Assist and Traffic Jam Assist.
What's my Towing Capacity?
The Volkswagen Taigo has an estimated towing capacity of between 1,000KG to 1,200KG. this weight would allow the driver to tow a trailer, cycle carrier or even a small caravan. it is extremely important to check the weight of what you are towing as overloading could not only damage the vehicle but could cause a road traffic accident if the towbar becomes unhitched.
Which Towbar is best for my Volkswagen Taigo?
There are three different types of towbars available for the Volkswagen Taigo, a fixed flange towbar, a fixed swan neck towbar and a detachable swan neck towbar.
A fixed flange towbar is a permanent style of towbar that is attached to the chassis of the vehicle and is the only style of towbar that is fitted with a plate on the rear of the towbar. This plate allows for bolt-on towing accessories to be attached. The fixed flange towbar is also the only style of towbar that can have a bolt-on cycle carrier attached, the bolt-on carrier is attached to the backing plate, which therefore leaves the towball free for towing. The fixed flange towbar is compatible with all styles of cycle carriers, trailers, and caravans, however, if you are towing a caravan with an ALKO towball you would need to have an ALKO towball fitted before towing.
The other style of fixed towbar is the fixed swan neck towbar, this style of towbar is also permanently attached to the vehicle's bumper, however, due to its thin design it is popular with drivers of Tiago’s with parking sensors. The thin towbar neck allows for plenty of clearance between where the towbar sits and where the parking sensors are situated meaning it is allowed less likely to cause an interference with the parking sensors when the vehicle is in reverse. The fixed swan neck towbar is compatible with all clamp-on style cycle carriers, trailers and caravans, it is also ALKO compatible meaning that no ALKO towball is required when towing a caravan with an ALKO stabiliser.
The detachable swan neck towbar is the only style of towbar that the towbar neck that can be detached from its housing. The detachable swan neck towbar can be easily detached using a simple twist and push method. The detachable swan neck towbar is compatible with all clamp-on style cycle carriers, trailers and caravans. It is also ALKO compatible and therefore doesn’t need an ALKO towball when towing a caravan with an ALKO stabiliser.
Will it need a bumper cut?
When fitting a towbar onto any of the three towbars there are no bumper cuts required. If your Volkswagen Taigo has been modified or isn’t fitted with a standard bumper then this may need modifications to be made, our towbar engineer will begin with the installation by discussing any bumper cuts and answer any questions that you may have regarding the fitment.
