More about towing with the new T-Cross Model
The interior of the T-Cross allows its driver a sense of freedom, with the raised seating position and roominess enabling a much more comfortable drive. Driving long distances no longer needs to be feared because Volkswagen has created an enjoyable space with plenty of room for the driver and its passengers.
Volkswagen launched the T-Cross in 2019 and did not hold back when adding extras, making it a sought-after SUV. It’s jam-packed with technology that will provide the most enjoyable experience for its drivers. With Blind Spot Sensors and Lane Assist, it has never been easier to tow. The T-Cross has some of the most modern safety assistance features previously reserved for the higher vehicle classes.
With the Blind Spot Sensor, the smart technology uses the exterior mirror to warn you about vehicles in your blind spot. The Rear Traffic Alert monitors the area behind your car, warning you of any traffic crossing your path whilst reversing. You no longer need to worry about your view being obscured by a cycle carrier as the Blind Spot Sensor technology will do all the hard work for you.
Another clever piece of technology is Optimal Park Distance Control, which emits acoustic and visual warnings to the driver to inform them when obstacles are in front of or behind the vehicle. Added to this, the Manoeuvre braking function allows the driver to avoid collisions or reduce the impact when reversing at speeds of up to 6mph.
What’s the Towing Capacity of the VW T-Cross?
The towing capacity on the Volkswagen varies depending on the model; the average towing weight is between 1000KG to 1200KG, which is the perfect capacity for adding a cycle carrier and bikes onto the back of the vehicle. To work out your towing capacity, refer to the VIN plate, which will give you an accurate weight.
Which Towbar is best for my VW T-Cross?
We offer a variety of towbars for the T-Cross, all of which cater to the driver’s needs. We always advise opting for a detachable swan neck towbar if your vehicle is equipped with parking sensors. The detachable towbar neck can be removed once towing has ended; therefore the parking sensors will not be affected.
The fixed swan neck towbar is the perfect choice for those who do not wish to remove the towbar neck, as its thinner design makes it less likely to affect the parking sensors.
The fixed flange towbar is ideal for those who want to style out their Towbar with accessories. The flange towbar is compatible with all cycle carriers and can have the bumper protector plates attached.
Will it need a bumper cut?
For a towbar to be fitted to the T-Cross, a non-visible bumper cut will be made to the undertray of the vehicle. This modification will only be noticeable when looking underneath the bumper. Please note that the bumper cuts can vary if the vehicle has any additions to the bumper that are not standard to the T-Cross.
