VW Caddy 2020 Model
When it comes to towing, the Volkswagen Caddy has really upped its game, the new systems implemented make towing a dream. The all-new Trailer Assist technology allows the driver to complete reverse manoeuvres with ease, long gone are the days of struggling to park your vehicle when towing. Drivers no longer need to turn the steering wheel to the left to move the trailer to the right, or vice versa, the simple technology allows the driver to only need to operate the accelerator and brakes. This system allows the Caddy to reverse precisely in a straight line, the power-assisted steering is automatically operated to move the trailer in the required direction.
The Caddy also comes with the innovative Travel Assist that delivers assisted driving across the full speed range. The Travel Assist combines adaptive cruise control and lane assist together to control the accelerator, brake, and steering, all without the need for driver input. The driver no longer needs to think about keeping a safe distance from the car in front as the Caddy’s modern technology has all this in hand.
Another clever addition to the Caddy is the Emergency assist technology, this new piece of kit recognises driver inactivity and takes over driving to help control the vehicle. This added safety feature will give its driver peace of mind when driving, making it a much more relaxing experience, especially when towing long distances.
Whats the Towing Capacity of the VW Caddy?
The new Caddy can tow around 1500KG, which is an ample amount for most towing requirements. Due to the different models of the Caddy, it is always best to refer to your vin plate for an accurate towing weight. Which Towbar is best for my Caddy?
The detachable swan neck, fixed swan neck and fixed flange towbars are available for the Caddy. The detachable towbar offers the prospect of being removed once towing has been completed, not only does this protect the aesthetics of the vehicle but also means that the parking sensors will be unaffected. However, if removing the towbar neck does not appeal to you, the fixed swan neck is the perfect choice. The compact towbar neck is less likely to trigger parking sensors, although this is not guaranteed.
The fixed flange towbar allows for all towing accessories to be attached when towing, so if you have your eye on a bumper protector plate then this is the towbar you should opt for.
Will my Caddy need a bumper cut?
No bumper modifications are required for any of the towbars to be fitted, however the bumper will need to be removed and refitted during the towbar installation. Please note that different bumper styles may need slight modifications during the fitment, if your vehicle is not a standard van, please contact our office to discuss any potential changes required for the towbar installation.
