More about the Ford Transit
The Pre-Collision Assist is an example of just one of the clever safety features added to the van. Pre-Collision Assist monitors the road ahead by keeping an eye on the proximity of the pedestrians and other vehicles. The system alerts you of a potential collision and automatically applies the brakes if you don't respond. This gives the driver peace of mind when driving, especially when commuting long distances.
Another piece of useful kit in the Custom is the Park Assist feature, which identifies a suitable parking space when visibility is limited for the driver. The feature then assists the driver to make the manoeuvre by safely steering the van into the designated space. The driver will only need to control the brakes and gears when Park Assist is activated. It can also help you to steer out of parallel spaces when required.
The Ford Transit Custom is also full of nifty pieces of kit to help with everyday driving. For example, the Load Floor Tie-Downs. This is a simple piece of equipment that makes access to the vehicle easier when securing cargo. The nets spread out across the floor to allow the load floor to be free from any obstructions. The tie-down points are located on the lower sidewall; however, additional fixing points are built into the van at waist and shoulder height; these can hold down a generous 30 KG of load.

What’s the Towing Capacity of the Transit?
The Transit Custom has an approximate towing weight of 2000KG; however, this can vary depending on the different models and trims of the van. If your Transit Custom is an MSRT model, the towing capacity rises to approx. 2800kg and a nose weight of 130kg, meaning it can tow even larger weights. However, if your vehicle is automatic, the towing weight could be restricted therefore please check your towing weight on the VIN plate located on your Custom.
Will it need a bumper cut?
No bumper cut would be required on any of the towbars for the Ford Transit Custom, although different bumper styles may need to be modified. If you are unsure of your bumper style or need any advice regarding modifications, don't hesitate to get in touch with our sales team
Which Towbar is best for my Ford Transit Custom?
A Fixed Flange Towbar and a Detachable Swan Neck Towbar are available for the Standard Ford Transit Custom. However, if your van is an M Sport or a GT Line, you will need to get the detachable towbar due to the extra sporty bumper. Due to the different bumper styles, the MSRT model has to have the detachable swan neck towbar fitted. Due to it being a detachable vertical system, the installation is discreet and cannot be seen once the neck is detached.
The fixed flange towbar is an excellent option if you want to use towing accessories simultaneously as towing, as the flange style towbar is equipped with a backing plate that allows for bolt-on accessories to be attached. The fixed flange towbar also allows for all styles of cycle carriers. Due to the size of the chassis, the fixed flange towbar doesn't tend to interfere with vehicle parking sensors, although this cannot be guaranteed. However, the fixed flange towbar cannot fit all bumper types, so please check with our sales team before purchasing.
The detachable Towbar is a fantastic choice for those who wish to remove their Towbar once towing has been completed; this would leave the vehicle looking as it did before a towbar was fitted. The thinner design of the detachable swan neck towbar is seen as a neater style for those conscious about their vehicle's ascetics. The detachable swan neck is also a great option for those with rear parking sensors fitted, as once the Towbar is removed, the rear parking sensors won't be able to detect the Towbar.
