More about the Ford Puma
The Eco-boost hybrid version of the vehicle features mild hybrid technology that reduces CO2 emissions and optimises fuel efficiency. The powertrain integrates electric torque with a choice of three-cylinder petrol engines. Regenerative braking reclaims energy as you slow down and uses it to deliver punchier performance when you accelerate.
The designers at Ford have cleverly designed the interior of the vehicle, which is surprisingly accommodating. The innovative approach to how space is occupied is featured within every section of the vehicle. The design is both stylish and comfortable, providing a warm welcome for both passengers and the driver. The driver’s seat is highly adjustable as is the steering wheel, providing a clear view of the road ahead. For those corners that you can’t see, Ford includes rear parking sensors as standard, and front sensors and a rear-view camera can be added as an additional extra too.
The dash includes an 8” touchscreen infotainment system, with a DAB radio, Bluetooth, built-in sat-nav as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, some of the trims also benefit from wireless smartphone charging too.
The Ford Puma offers plenty of leg and headroom for taller passengers, as well as lots of storage space. The door bins are decent-sized in both the front and the rear of the vehicle, as well as pockets on the back of the front seats for smaller items. The boot offers a hands-free opening sensor, so access is easy even with arms full of shopping. The space within the boot is enough to hold eight carry-on-size suitcases, with a sneaky compartment hidden under the floor for additional storage.
What's my Towing Capacity?
The towing capacity for the Ford Puma sits between 750kg and 1100kg, allowing it to tow a cycle carrier, trailer, or caravan. It is important to remember that not all vehicles are homologated to tow, so you must refer to the VIN plate on your vehicle before booking your towbar fitment. Please bear in mind the addition of a towbar to your Electric or Hybrid Vehicle may impact the range that the battery is capable of.
Which Towbar is best for my Ford Puma?
There are three different towbars available for the Ford Puma, the fixed flange towbar, the fixed swan neck towbar, and the detachable swan neck towbar.
The fixed flange towbar is a permanent style of towbar that is fixed to the vehicle’s chassis, it is fitted with a plate which allows for bolt-on accessories to attach to the towbar leaving the towball hitch-free. The fixed flange towbar is the only style of towbar that is compatible with all styles of cycle carriers, although it can also tow caravans and trailers. If you intend to tow a caravan with an ALKO stabiliser, the fixed flange will require an ALKO towball to be fitted beforehand.
The fixed swan neck is another style of fixed towbar, with a much thinner neck than the flange. The fixed swan neck towbar is popular with drivers whose Ford Puma is fitted with rear parking sensors. The thin design of the towbar neck offers a lot more clearance between the towbar and the rear parking sensors making it a lot less likely to cause interference with the parking sensors when the car is in reverse. The fixed swan neck towbar is ALKO compatible and compatible with all clamp-on cycle carriers, caravans, and trailers.
The detachable swan neck is identical to the fixed swan neck towbar but with one main difference, the towbar neck can detach from its housing when towing has been completed. The detachable neck is easily removed using a twist and push method, once the neck has been removed the electric socket will flip up underneath the bumper. The detachable neck is the perfect choice for drivers who wish to retain the look of their bumper, as once the towbar neck has been removed the vehicle will return to its pre-towbar state with all traces of a towbar practically invisible. The detachable swan neck towbar is compatible with all styles of clamp-on-cycle carriers, trailers, and caravans.
Will it need a bumper cut?
Chosen manufacturers have designed this specific towbar for the Ford Puma to ensure that no modifications are required to the bumper of the vehicle and that the integrity of the bumper is kept intact.
