More about the Ford EcoSport
The Ford Eco Sport has been designed as a family SUV, jam-packed with technology and systems to protect the driver and the passengers. From alerting the driver to potential collision hazards to clever systems that help maintain traction and stability, the driver can feel in control with every mile they drive.
Equipped with Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, the Ford Eco Sport will scan the road to monitor what's ahead. The system will warn the driver if they detect any vehicles or pedestrians too close to the car. If there is no response from the driver, the system will automatically apply the brakes, reducing the severity of the accident and helping the driver avoid a collision altogether.
Hill starts aren't anyone's favourite manoeuvre, so Ford has created Hill Start Assist that temporarily prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards (or forwards) when making a hill start. The technology works by maintaining pressure on the braking system for 2.5 seconds, which gives the driver more time and control as the foot moves from the brake pedal to the accelerator. This system is also helpful when stopping and starting on uneven/ slippery surfaces.
Driving can be lethal when vehicles are in your blind spot; the Ford Eco Sport has created a Blind Spot Information System that uses Radar sensors to see vehicles that may be hidden in the blind spot. The sensors are situated on either side of the vehicle and will alert the driver with an orange light when a car approaches the blind spot.
Along with the innovative safety features, the Ford Eco Sport is also full of nifty features to allow the driver to feel at ease and comfortable when driving. The driver can create settings that help them feel comfortable on every journey, from rain-sensing wipers to a heated steering wheel.
What’s the Towing Capacity of the Ford EcoSport?
The Ford Eco Sport has an approximate towing weight of around 1100KG, meaning that towing large caravans is off-limits for this vehicle. However, there is still plenty of capacity to tow trailers and cycle carriers and some small caravans. We would advise checking the weight of whatever is being towed to avoid overloading your Towbar. To maintain an accurate towing capacity for your vehicle, please refer to the Vin plate under the bonnet or on the passenger door sill.
Which Towbar is best for my Ford EcoSport?
The only Towbar currently listed for the Ford Eco Sport is a fixed flange towbar. The fixed flange towbar is a permanent towbar that cannot be removed when towing has been completed. The flange style towbars have the capacity to bolt on accessories to the backplate that is situated to the rear of the Towbar. The flange towbars are compatible with all styles of cycle carriers, trailers, and caravans. However, if your caravan has an ALKO stabiliser, an ALKO towball would need to be purchased and fitted prior to towing.
Will it need a bumper cut?
A nonvisible bumper cut will be made to the vehicle's underskirt when installing a fixed flange towbar to the Ford Eco Sport. The modification will be visible when looking at the cut face on, but not in any other viewpoint. If your Ford Eco Sport has had any bumper modifications and is not the standard bumper, then further cuts may be required; please contact our sales team to discuss this further.
