More about the Skoda Karoq
The Skoda Karoq combines a raised driving position together with narrow windscreen pillars and larger-than-average side windows, keeping visibility to a maximum to ensure changing lanes on motorways, pulling out of T-junctions or manoeuvres in tight spaces are a breeze.
Configuring the Skoda Karoq to your personal preferences can be done with ease with the option of front-wheel drive or all-wheel-drive, an array of different engine options, both petrol and diesel, and 2 trims to choose from, so you’ll have no trouble tailoring your vehicle to your needs.
The Skoda Karoq is equipped with several towing features that make it capable of safely and efficiently towing a trailer, such as Trailer Stability Control which is a system to help stabilise the vehicle and trailer or caravan when towing, reducing the risk of fishtailing or jack-knifing. Another useful feature when towing is the Hill Hold Control which helps prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards when starting on an incline, giving the driver confidence when a hill start is necessary. Brake Assist is useful when towing, as it improves the braking performance, which is particularly useful when towing as it helps to bring the vehicle and whatever is being towed to a safe stop.
What's my Towing Capacity?
The Skoda Karoq has a towing capacity between 1,200kg to 2,100kg meaning they can tow anything from a cycle carrier or small trailer up to a medium-sized caravan. With the towing capacity being quite a wide range, it would always be advisable to check your vehicle's VIN plate to determine your vehicle’s specific maximum towing weight.
Which Towbar is best for my Skoda Karoq?
The Skoda Karoq is compatible with all three types of towbars that we offer, which are the Fixed Flange, Fixed Swan Neck and Detachable Swan Neck towbars.
The Fixed Flange style towbar is permanently attached to the vehicle once fitted and cannot be removed when not being used. The design of this towbar is short and chunky and more compact. The Fixed Flange is a versatile choice of towbar that is compatible with most accessories, including all types of cycle carriers. This type of towbar is not compatible with the ALKO stabiliser, therefore an ALKO towball would be required in this case.
The Fixed Swan Neck towbar is another permanently fixed style of towbar, which once fitted cannot be removed or detached from the vehicle. Aesthetically, however, the fixed swan neck has a much slimmer design meaning it would be less likely to be detected by parking sensors and interfere with these. The Fixed Swan Neck towbar is compatible with ALKO stabilisers and most clamp-on style cycle carriers, trailers and caravans making it functional for many different towing options.
The Detachable Swan Neck towbar is the only removable style of towbar we offer and can be removed from the towbar neck with ease when not in use. Additionally, the electrical plate will fold up underneath the bumper out of view leaving no sign of any towbar and therefore removing the possibility of being detected by parking sensors, should your vehicle have these. The neck part of the Detachable Swan Neck towbar is the same as the Fixed Swan Neck towbar making it compatible with ALKO stabilisers, together with most clamp-on cycle carriers, caravans and trailers too.
Will it need a bumper cut?
In order to fit a towbar to the Skoda Karoq, the bumper would require removal and a bumper cut would also be necessary, although this should not be visible once fitment is complete, regardless of whether you choose the Fixed Flange, Fixed Swan Neck or Detachable Swan Neck towbar.
