More about the Skoda Octavia
All the safety features use new intelligent technology that allows the driver to focus on where they are going. It's pretty easy to overlook some things that keep you safe on the roads, and Skoda has made it so their safety features make the driver much safer when out in the Octavia. All the technology will actively prevent an accident and protect all passengers in an emergency. Different Driver-Assistance systems allow for different types of driving; if you are in the city Front Assist, Predictive Cruise Control, Side Assist, and Traffic Jam Assist are on hand to help you. Whereas if you are journeying on the motorway Travel Assist, Adaptive Lane Assist, Traffic sign Recognition and Driver Alert will be there to keep you safe.
Skoda has also created systems that make parking easier so that the driver doesn't need to strain their necks trying to perfect the perfect parallel park. These technologies include; Park Assist, Manoeuvre Assist, Area View and Trailer Assist.
The Skoda Octavia has cleverly created the Drive Mode Select that allows the driver to select a driving mode that is more suited to their style of driving and the terrain they are driving on. There are nine different modes including, Comfort, Sport, Normal, Eco, Individual, Snow, Off-Road, ESC Sport and IV-Specific Modes. The IV- Specific mode is only available in the electric models.
What's the Towing Capacity of the Skoda Octavia?
The Skoda Octavia Estate has an approximate towing capacity of around 1800KG; this generous weight would allow the vehicle to tow a cycle carrier, trailer, and a small caravan. To find an accurate capacity for your vehicle, please refer to the VIN plate on your car.
Which Towbar is best for my Skoda Octavia?
We offer the Fixed Flange Towbar, Fixed Swan Neck Towbar and Detachable Swan Neck Towbar for the Skoda Octavia Estate.
The fixed flange towbar is a permanent towbar that cannot be removed from the vehicle once it has been fitted. Vehicles fitted with the rear parking sensors may find that the Towbar will interfere with the sensors when in reverse. We always advise opting for a detachable towbar for Octavias with Parking sensors.
The fixed swan neck towbar is also a permanent towbar again; this cannot be removed once it has been fitted. Although the fixed swan neck design is a lot thinner than the fixed flange towbar, it can still cause issues with rear parking sensors. However, the fixed swan neck towbar is less likely to affect the rear parking sensors in reverse compared to the fixed flange towbar. The fixed swan neck towbar is compatible with all trailers, caravans, and clamp-on style towbars. If your caravan is fitted with an ALKO stabiliser, then there is no need to purchase an ALKO towball as the towball on the Detachable swan neck will be long enough to attach to the caravan.
The detachable swan is an excellent option for those with rear parking sensors fitted to their Skoda Octavia. Once towing has been completed, the towbar neck can easily be removed using a twist and push motion. The detachable swan neck towbar is fitted with a lock to protect the Towbar from theft. The detachable swan neck towbar is compatible with all trailers, clamp-on cycle carriers and caravans. It can also be used with an ALKO stabiliser without purchasing an ALKO ball.
Will it need a bumper cut?
A bumper cut will be made to the vehicle's underskirt when fitting a towbar to the Skoda Octavia Estate. However, this will not be visible unless you look at the modification face. Due to the design of the bumper, some customers may need to purchase a pre-cut tow panel before the towbar installation; for further information, don't hesitate to get in touch with our sales team.
