What’s the Towing Capacity of the Range Rover Sport?
The Land Rover Range Rover Sport has an average towing capacity of around 3000KG, this generous capacity provides the driver with an abundance of towing opportunities, from a small trailer to a large family caravan. To find out an accurate towing capacity for your vehicle please refer to the VIN plate that is located on the passenger door sill or under the bonnet.
Which Towbar is best for my RR Sport?
There are two different styles of towbars available for the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, the fixed flange towbar and the detachable swan neck style towbar. The fixed flange towbar is a permanent towbar that is fixed onto the chassis of the vehicle and cannot be removed when towing has been completed.
The fixed flange towbar is the only style of towbar that is equipped with a plate that allows towing accessories to be bolted on whilst leaving the towball free to use for towing. The fixed flange towbar is compatible with all styles of cycle carriers, trailers and caravans, however, it would require an ALKO towball when hitching up a caravan with an ALKO stabiliser.
The detachable swan neck towbar is removable, the towbar neck can easily be removed from the towbar using a twist-and-push method. The detachable swan neck can be locked using a key. The detachable swan neck towbar is popular with drivers whose Range Rover Sport is equipped with rear parking sensors as once the neck has been removed the vehicle returns to its pre-towbar state and will no longer affect parking sensors when the vehicle is in reverse.
Will it need a bumper cut?
The Range Rover Sport L494 would require a small non-visible bumper cut to the vehicles under the tray when fitting any of the towbars. The bumper cut would only be visible to the driver when looking underneath the vehicle. If the Land Rover Range Rover Sport is not fitted with a standard bumper or has been modified, then a larger bumper cut could be made. Our informative towbar engineer will guide you through the installation process, and discuss any modifications.
