More about the new Land Rover Defender
Equipped for 21st century adventures the Defender is packed out with state-of-the-art technology, making it a popular choice for those wanting to get out and explore. From blind spot assist to 3D surround cameras, these added features make towing effortless.
The Clear Sight Rear view mirror is just one example of some the innovative technology that has been added to the Defender. The mirror uses a live video feed from the roof's antenna so when your view has been blocked by what you are towing you would still be able to see what is behind you. Long gone are the days of navigating your car with restricted vision, the safety conscious feature goes hand in hand with towing.
The Defender also has the Clear Sight Ground View technology so you will never have obstructed vision at the front of your vehicle. The cleverly positioned cameras let you see through the bonnet, giving a virtual view of the road that is usually obscured. This allows you to see better in extreme terrain or even in tight parking spaces.
What’s is the Defender Towing Capacity?
As expected with the majority of Land Rovers, the Defender can tow the maximum amount of 3,500 KG. From hefty caravans to sturdy cycle carriers the sky is your limit when picking which form of equipment you are using. The Land Rover is renowned its strength and the Defender does not disappoint; however, we always advise to check your vehicles VIN plate for an accurate towing capacity. If you need any help, please check our VIN location advice page.

Which Towbar is best for my Defender?
We offer a fixed flange and the detachable swan neck towbar on the Land Rover Defender. The detachable tow bar is the most desirable tow bar for this vehicle, as it can be removed once towing has finished, leaving the vehicle's aesthetics unaffected. The detachable towbar is compatible with most cycle carriers and all towing hitches, making it the perfect choice.
The fixed flange towbar is also available for the Defender and is perfect for bolting on towing accessories or even adding a cycle carrier on for your next adventure. The large chassis on the Defender makes the fixed flange suitable, as the chances of your parking sensors being affected are relatively small.
Will my Defender need a bumper cut?
The bumper cut on the Defender is classed as non-visible; all modifications to the bumper will be made on the vehicle's under-tray. This means no cut will be visible unless you to look underneath the vehicle. For the towbar to be fitted, the towbar engineer will have to temporarily remove the bumper, this will be refitted before the end of fitment.
