More about The Toyota Rav 4
The intelligent all-wheel drive allows the driver to feel confident no matter the terrain; this provides an off-road experience like no other. The Hybrid E uses a second rear-mounted electric motor to power the rear wheels, allowing the torque to be distributed between all four wheels, improving grip and stability.
Jam Packed with innovative technologies both inside and out, the Toyota Rav 4 is designed to give the ultimate driver pleasure from the moment they buckle in. The new Multimedia package integrates the intelligent phone Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto to allow the driver to make calls and pick their favourite song with a tap on the screen. The Toyota e-connected services will enable the driver to remotely control the air conditioning, using google maps or replying to important text messages.
The Toyota Rav 4 is equipped with the standard Toyota Safety sense 2.0; this advanced safety technology includes Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High beams, Road Sign Assist and Lane Tracing Assist. This combination of safety technology has been designed to keep the driver in control and safe. The technology helps mitigate the likelihood of collisions and avoid them where possible, therefore creating a safer driving environment for the driver and other road users.
What's my Towing Capacity?
The Toyota Rav 4 has a towing capacity of between 800KG to 1650KG; this capacity would allow the driver to tow anything from bikes to a small trailer or caravan. To find an accurate towing capacity for your Toyota Rav 4, please refer to the VIN plate located either under the bonnet or on the passenger door sill.
Which Towbar is best for my Rav 4?
Three types of towbars are available for the Toyota Rav 4: a fixed flange towbar, a fixed swan neck towbar, and a detachable swan neck towbar.
The fixed flange towbar is one of two fixed towbars available for the Toyota Rav 4; this means that it cannot be removed at the end of towing. The fixed flange is the only towbar style with a bolt-on plate allowing towing accessories to be bolted on. This is also the only towbar that is compatible with all types of bike carriers. The fixed flange towbar is chunky in its design, meaning that it can cause interference with rear parking sensors when the vehicle is put in reverse. The fixed flange towbar is compatible with trailers and caravans; however, if your caravan has an ALKO stabiliser, an ALKO ball must be purchased beforehand.
The fixed swan neck towbar is the other style of permanent towbar; again, this means it cannot be removed once towing has been completed. The fixed swan neck is much thinner in style; this means rear parking sensors are unlikely to be triggered when the vehicle is in reverse; however, this depends on the rear sensors' placement.
The fixed swan neck towbar is compatible with all clamp-on towbars, trailers and caravans. If you are towing a caravan with an ALKO stabiliser, there is no requirement to purchase an ALKO towball as the fixed swan neck is compatible with all styles of stabilisers.
The detachable swan neck is the only style of removable towbar; the towbar neck can be removed by simply using a twist and push method; this would leave the housing underneath the chassis and the electric socket that flips up out of sight. The detachable swan neck towbar is compatible with all clamp-on towbars, cycle carriers and caravans. There is no requirement for an ALKO towball when towing with an ALKO stabiliser, as the neck of the detachable swan neck can attach with no issues.
Will it need a bumper cut?
When fitting a towbar to the Toyota Rav 4, a small non-visible bumper cut will be made to the vehicle's undertray. This cut would only be visible when looking at it face-on. If your Toyota Rav 4 has been modified in any way, this may cause a larger incision to be made; if you are unsure if this affects your vehicle, please contact our sales team.
