Functional, versatile, and accessible, the new Proace City is the perfect urban van with the capacity to surprise. The Toyota Proace is like other rivals in its sector such as the Citroen Berlingo and the Peugeot Partner which were jointly developed by the PSA Group.

The Proace is available in two different trims, the entry-level Active and the more upmarket Icon, as well as two different body lengths. Both versions are only available with a five-speed manual gearbox. The van was named International Van of the Year when it was launched and has gone on to receive a whole host of awards. It combines elements of Peugeot-Citroen car models with a conventional, boxy rear end, meaning the cockpit is comfortable and the rear is practical.

The flangeball towbar is a commonly used type of towbar in this country.

On this type of towbar, the towball is bolted on to a faceplate on the tow bar, this allows accessories such as bumper guards and cycle carriers to be bolted behind the towball.

The interior of the Proace City is spacious, with 15 inner storage compartments to store your items. These include an under-seat pull-out tray as well as a fold-down table on the three-seater version. With connected digital features, the Proace City is packed with innovative technology. The Proace City offers the latest in multimedia and connectivity. Its 8" screen delivers an intuitive and engaging experience, with AppleCarplay and Android Auto as well as a DAB radio with USB and Bluetooth.

The Proace City range is designed and built with safety in mind, including a suite of advanced driver assistance systems. Proace City uses a camera and laser to detect other vehicles on the road. When a possible collision is detected, the driver is alerted with audio and visual warnings, and brake assistance is activated. A camera is used to detect the lane markings on the road ahead, if the vehicle starts to deviate from its lane without the indicator being applied, the driver will be given audible and visual warnings and the unintentional lane departure will be corrected. This system monitors the position of the vehicle within the lane along with the driver's steering to detect any possible swaying.

The Proace City range has an impressive payload capacity of up to 1 tonne and the Smart Cargo System creates an additional load length and carrying capacity with a hatch in the bulkhead for transporting even longer loads. Additional under-seat storage provides extra space for your essentials whilst the folding middle seat creates a useful work surface, ideal for laptops and tablets.

What's my Towing Capacity?

The towing capacity for the Toyota Proace City varies depending on the model, but some models can tow a hefty 1200 kg. The specific towing limit for your vehicle can be found on the VIN plate, and this must be referred to before booking your towbar installation.

Which Towbar is best for my Toyota Pro Ace City?

There are three different options of towbars for your Toyota Proace City; a fixed flange towbar, a fixed swan neck and a detachable swan neck towbar. All three of the towbar styles are compatible with cycle carriers, however, the fixed flange towbar is the only towbar that can tow cycle carriers that bolt on.

The fixed swan neck towbar and the detachable swan neck towbars are both ALKO compatible, meaning any caravan with an ALKO stabiliser can be towed without purchasing an ALKO Towball as an extra.

The detachable swan neck is a horizontal style towbar and is the only style of towbar that can be removed once towing has been completed. Using a simple twist and lock method the towbar neck easily detaches from the towbar housing leaving the rest of the towing equipment practically invisible.

Will it need a bumper cut?

There is no bumper cut required to fit any towbar option onto the Toyota Proace City if the bumper is standard. If you have had modifications to your vehicle or a different bumper added, then we would recommend referring to the fitting instructions before booking your installation.
