More about the Mitsubishi ASX Crossover
With later models equipped with a radar-powered blind spot warning system amongst other features, the Mitsubishi ASX provides a safety-conscious towing platform - bringing confidence when on longer journeys. With a choice of powerful engines ranging from 112bhp up to 148bhp, the ASX offers plenty of capability for its size and allows it to handle larger trailers and even some caravans.
What's my Towing Capacity?
The Mitsubishi ASX supports up to a maximum braked towing capacity of 1,400kg. Please refer to the VIN plate to confirm the towing capacity of your vehicle.
Which Towbar is best for my Mitsubishi ASX Crossover?
The fixed flange towbar is convenient for those aiming to mount accessories such as the bumper protector plate and bolt-on cycle carriers. For those looking to tow anything with an ALKO stabiliser, an ALKO towball is required for the fixed flange towbar. For vehicles with parking sensors, there is the possibility that the sensors will detect a fixed towbar.
A fixed swan neck incorporates the towball into the neck of the towbar, allowing for a more compact design which is less likely to interfere with parking sensors. Bolt-on accessories cannot be attached to swan neck towbars as there is nothing for these to connect to, meaning that only clamp-on accessories, such as cycle carriers, can be utilised. Swan neck towbars are compatible with ALKO stabilisers, simply needing the paint removed from the towball.
The detachable swan neck combines the features of the fixed swan neck with the utility of a detachable neck. This allows the towbar to avoid interference with parking sensors, as the neck of the towbar can be removed when it is not in use. This also minimises the effect on the vehicle’s aesthetics, as the neck is not on display constantly.
Will it need a bumper cut?
Towbars for the Mitsubishi ASX require a non-visible bumper cut. This means that on detachable towbars, there is almost no evidence a towbar has been fitted whilst the neck is detached.
