Which Towbar is best for my Hyundai Ioniq 5?
There are two styles of towbars available for the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the fixed swan neck towbar and the detachable swan neck. Both styles of towbars are almost identical in their appearance, both offering a long thin neck. The swan neck styles of towbars are popular with drivers whose Hyundai Ioniqs are fitted with rear parking sensors as the design of the towbar allows for a bigger clearance between where the towbar is fitted and where the parking sensors are situated.
The difference between both styles of towbars is the fixed swan neck is a permanent style of towbar and cannot be removed upon completion of towing, whereas the detachable swan neck towbar allows for the towbar neck to easily be detached from its housing. The neck detaches from its housing using a twist and push method, once the neck has been detached the towbar electrics flip up underneath the bonnet. Both styles of towbars are compatible with clamp-on cycle carriers, trailers, and caravans, they are also both ALKO compatible which means they can tow caravans with ALKO stabilisers without requiring an ALKO towball.
Will it need a bumper cut?
When fitting any of two styles of towbars a small invisible bumper cut will be made to the undertray of the vehicle, the cut will only be visible when looking underneath the vehicle. If your Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been modified or isn’t fitted with a standard bumper this could lead to a larger modification being made. Our informative towbar engineers will always begin the installation by discussing any modifications that will be made to the vehicle and answering any questions that you may have.
