What's my Towing Capacity?
The Honda Civic Hatchback has an estimated towing capacity of 750 kg, although this is a relatively small capacity, it would still allow for the driver to tow a small trailer or cycle carriers. It is extremely important to check the weight of what you are towing as overloading your towbar can result in damage to your vehicle or the towbar becoming unhitched and causing a road traffic accident.
Which Towbar is best for my Honda Civic Hatchback?
There are three different styles of towbars available for the Honda Civic Hatchback, a fixed swan neck towbar, a fixed flange towbar and a detachable swan neck towbar.
The fixed flange towbar is a permanent style of towbar, meaning it cannot be removed from the vehicle’s chassis. The fixed flange towbar is the only style of towbar that is equipped with a back plate, this allows for towing accessories to be bolted on the plate leaving the towball free to tow with. If you are planning on towing a Caravan with an ALKO stabiliser an ALKO towball would need to be purchased before fitment.
The fixed swan neck towbar is another style of permanent towbar, however, due to its thin design it is popular with Kodiaq owners with rear parking sensors. The fixed swan neck allows for a lot more clearance between the towball and parking sensors than the fixed flange towbar, therefore making it a lot less likely to cause interference when the vehicle is put in reverse. The Fixed swan neck is also ALKO compatible meaning there is no requirement for an ALKO towball if you are planning on hitching up a caravan with an ALKO stabiliser. The fixed swan neck is compatible with all clamp-on styles of towbars, trailers, and caravans.
The detachable swan neck is the only detachable style of towbar that we offer and its sleek design is popular with customers wanting to preserve the aesthetic of their vehicle. The detachable swan neck is easily removed from its housing using a twist-and-push method. For protection, each detachable towbar comes with a key to lock the towbar neck into place during use and ensure that nobody else can remove the towbar if left on the vehicle. All the detachable swan neck towbars are compatible with all clamp-on cycle carriers, trailers, caravans and ALKO stabilisers.
