Tow-Trust Towbars: The Choice for Towing

Founded over 30 years ago, British company Tow-Trust is one of our top suppliers here at Towbar Express, thanks to the unrivalled high quality of their craft.

Servicing 90% of our installation requirements, this well-respected, family-run company was founded back in 1991 by Ian and Elaine Miller, to manufacture high-quality towbars for the local area.

Thanks to the high-standard and ever-growing demand, the company quickly outgrew their premises, and as a result, relocated to a larger space over in the northern town of Atherton.

Fast forward to today, Tow-Trust is proud to be the UK's largest towbar manufacturer, manufacturing over 3,000 part numbers and shipping hundreds of thousands of units each year.

Pretty impressive for a family firm, right?

Whilst the manufacturing process has changed significantly over the years thanks to the influx of new technologies, the attention to detail and high standard of production has remained the same.

How are Tow-Trust Towbars made?

To allow for complete precision, towbars are identically cut using lasers. Following this, two neighbouring machines cut both the flat and tubular sections (fun fact: this high-tech equipment was the second ever purchased in the UK!).

The metal is then bent into the required shapes for each make, model and year of the vehicle. Savvy computer intelligence guides three hydraulic presses and a robotic arm to ensure that the correct section of metal is bent to the exact angle required - this process ensures every piece is the same.

Next up, the all-important nuts are welded on using a ceramic guide, leaving no room for error at the time of installation.

Separate components are welded together using a mix of innovative technology and skilled craftsmen. Human and artificial intelligence work together (as if glancing into the future!) to create the final product.

This is then painted using yet another futuristic technique called E-Coating, putting on an electronic charge to attract it to the metal of the bar itself. With a 1,200-hour salt spray corrosion protection, the technique lasts longer than the powder-coat alternative.

Very clever, if you ask us!

A quality piece of kit

A careful weighing procedure checks over each component (we're talking everything from the neck and bar to the nuts and bolts) to ensure the expertly packed box is ready to dispatch to yet another happy customer.

Prototypes of the finished products are relentlessly tested by machines that replicate the pushing and pulling that occurs when towing. Towbars have the capacity to tow up to 3500kg, so incredible force is used to ensure that the bar can withstand the pressure over a long period.

This thorough process includes the use of a single-axis test machine which runs on a two million cycle, and a car test machine involving a rather lengthy 93-hour test!

Tow-Trust's careful craftsmanship, innovative technology and attention to detail mean we are proud to work with this well-established company time and time again.
