On a Swan Neck towbar, the towball is part of the neck of the towbar.

A swan neck towbar can look tidier on the vehicle because it is more compact and is less likely to set any reverse parking sensors off. We can not guarantee this as it is dependant on the bumper shape and location of the parking sensors. We would recommend the Detachable Swan Neck Towbar if your vehicle has parking sensors.

  • Tidy and compact
  • Compatible with ALKO Stabilisers
  • Fits most clamp-on Cycle Carriers
  • If your vehicle has parking sensors, it is likely the fixed swan neck Towbar will trigger the parking sensors. We would recommend a Detachable Towbar instead

Important Information

*Please Note: If your vehicle has parking sensors, it is likely the Fixed Swan Neck Towbar will trigger the parking sensors. If available, we would recommend a Detachable Towbar instead.

More about the Peugeot 3008

The Peugeot 3008 is a front-running crossover that offers a spacious, upmarket cabin and plenty of mod-cons. In a jam-packed category of stylish SUVs, the 3008 is economical, easy to use and offers a comfortable drive.

Peugeot has worked hard to create one of the most stylish family SUVs on the market, and each new model has ironed out any creases in the previous. The 3008 was once known as the king of the compact SUVs, but was knocked off the top spot by the Skoda Karoq. This was mostly down to price, as the 3008 was a little more expensive.

**Please Note: If your vehicle is a Hybrid, then we will not be able to fit to your car. For more info, please call us.

The Peugeot 3008 offers plenty of space within the vehicle for five adults plus luggage; however, if it still seems a little tight, the 5008 seven-seater option shares the same platform but is larger.

The features within the 3008 have also been developed to keep in line with its SUV rivals. The Grip Control system has been improved and can now keep up with most things that 4WD vehicles offer, except for extreme off-roading. The Grip Control is run by a rotary controller to the centre console that allows you to select the driving mode that’s most suitable for the terrain, which is a helpful feature when you are hitched up and towing.

There are several different options for the 3008 available, dependent on your requirements. There is no entry-level Access model, so the line-up begins with the Active Premium model, which comes well-equipped. From there, further options such as the Allure Premium GT and the GT Premium trims are offered if you want to add a sporty sparkle to your commute. It is worth noting that if you choose to purchase the hybrid version of the 3008, the installation of a towbar is not possible.

Peugeot 3008 Towbars

What's my Towing Capacity?

The Peugeot 3008 has an average towing capacity of 1,000KG to 1,750KG which will allow the driver to tow anything from a cycle carrier up to a small caravan. You must always check the weight of what you are towing as overloading your vehicle can cause damage to your chassis. To receive an accurate towing capacity for your Peugeot 3008 please refer to your vehicle's VIN plate.

Which Towbar is best for my Peugeot 3008?

There are three different styles of towbars available for the Peugeot 3008, a fixed swan neck towbar, a fixed flange towbar and a detachable swan neck towbar.

The fixed flange towbar is a permanent style of towbar, meaning it cannot be removed from the vehicle’s chassis. The fixed flange towbar is the only style of towbar that is equipped with a back plate. This allows for towing accessories to be bolted on the plate, leaving the towball free to tow with. If you are planning on towing a Caravan with an ALKO stabiliser an ALKO towball would need to be purchased before fitment.

The fixed swan neck towbar is another style of permanent towbar; however, due to its thin design, it is popular with Kodiaq owners with rear parking sensors. The fixed swan neck allows for a lot more clearance between the towball and parking sensors than the fixed flange towbar, therefore making it a lot less likely to cause interference when the vehicle is put in reverse. The Fixed swan neck is also ALKO compatible, meaning there is no requirement for an ALKO towball if you are planning on hitching up a caravan with an ALKO stabiliser. The fixed swan neck is compatible with all clamp-on styles of towbars, trailers, and caravans.

The detachable swan neck is the only detachable style of towbar that we offer, and its sleek design is popular with customers wanting to preserve the aesthetic of their vehicle. The detachable swan neck is easily removed from its housing using a twist-and-push method. For protection, each detachable towbar comes with a key to lock the towbar neck into place during use and ensure that nobody else can remove the towbar if left on the vehicle. All the detachable swan neck towbars are compatible with all clamp-on cycle carriers, trailers, caravans and ALKO stabilisers.

Will it need a bumper cut?

When fitting any of the three styles of towbars to your Peugeot 3008 there will be a small bumper cut made to the vehicle's undertray. The bumper cut is classed as non-visible as it will only be noticeable if looking underneath the car at its undertray. During the towbar installation, the bumper will be removed. Upon completion, this will be carefully refitted.

Our professional towbar engineer will always begin the fitment by guiding you through the process and explaining any modifications that may need to be made to your vehicle, and then again, when the engineer has finished the fitment, he will show you how the towbar works and answer any questions you may have.

Electrics

Manufacturers are developing more environmentally friendly and efficient vehicles. To keep up with the times, we offer many options to make sure you, as the customer, choose the right products at the right price. There are many things to consider when you select the type of electrics, and we are confident that we can guide you to the correct option that suits your vehicle.

Which socket type should I choose?

7 Pin Electrics

Single 7 Pin Electrics are fitted as default with a towbar installation. They provide power to operate the lights (indicators, brake lights, sidelights, fog lights) on a standard UK trailer, caravan, horsebox or cycle carrier. The 7 Pin socket will not activate the reverse lights on a cycle carrier or trailer; however, this is not a legal requirement. If your trailer has reverse lights or ALKO-ATC Control fitted, you may need 13 pin electrics.

Even if you are only using your towbar to support a cycle carrier, you will still need these electrics to power the lights on the cycle carrier or a light board over the bikes. This is a legal requirement because bikes on the carrier may obscure the lights on your car.

Twin Electrics

Twin Electrics (12S) Electrics are fitted in addition to the standard Single 7 Pin Socket if you will be towing a caravan built pre-2008 with two power cables.

The 12S socket provides power for:

-Your caravan reverse lights.

-A permanent 12-volt live feed to your caravan.

-Live feeds to your caravan that are only live when your car engine is running to provide charge to your caravan battery, charge your fridge as well as give power to your interior lights.

-The twin electrics were a standard fitment until 2008, when the 13-pin socket replaced it.

13 Pin Electrics

13 Pin Electrics are fitted when you tow a caravan built from 2008 onwards. The 13 Pin socket combines the old style twin seven-pin sockets into one. The socket provides all the power needed to operate the road lights on your trailer or caravan and provides 12-volt power to operate all the other functions of your caravan.

You can use a trailer or cycle carrier with a 7-pin plug, but you would need an adaptor available in our Accessories section. The 13-pin socket is a neater fitment compared to the twin electrics, as the socket will usually fold under the bumper when you are not towing, making it discreet and a neat fit.

Which wiring should I choose?

Universal Aftermarket Wiring

Universal Aftermarket Wiring is fitted to your vehicle using an interface relay to protect your cars electrics. This type of wiring is available for most models where the vehicle is out of its warranty and does not have built-in safety features that must be activated. The universal wiring is connected to a 7-way bypass relay that protects the Canbus system, which won't cause any faults on the dash as the car doesn't detect the towbar system. If your vehicle is still within its manufacturer's warranty, we would recommend the fitment of Vehicle Specific Wiring.

Vehicle Specific Wiring

Each kit is designed specifically for the vehicle it is fitted to. Rather than soldering or using 'Scotch Locks' to connect the towbar wiring, which is the case with universal aftermarket wiring, these kits interface with the vehicle systems in the same way as the vehicle manufacturer intended. If your vehicle is less than three years old or is still within its manufacturer's warranty, you would need vehicle specific wiring to protect that warranty. Other towing functions such as Trailer Stability Control (available on your car) could be activated when vehicle specific wiring is fitted. This is vehicle dependant as towing functions vary from car to car.

What is coding, and does my car need it?

At Towbar Express, our expert team can advise you based on your vehicle’s make, model, and year. We supply and fit vehicle-specific wiring kits and if coding is required, we’ll carry it out as part of the installation, no need to visit a dealership.

For more information on coding for your vehicle, please contact us directly.

Guarantee

Towbar Warranty

Towbars that we supply have a manufacturers lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defects. This guarantee covers the fixed parts of the towbar assembly, and not moving parts such as detachable necks, or other accessories.

Towbar Neck Warranty

The neck section of the towbar has a 12 month warranty. It is very rare that these necks have a fault. Most of the time when there is a fault it's usually that the neck wasn't released from the car properly last time it was used. It simply needs to be reset, and you can view a video guide here.

Electrics Warranty

Once your towbar and electrics have been fitted, we offer a 12-month guarantee on the installation of your towbar, electrics and other parts that are not covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Any electric faults that appear during the 12-month period that has been reported to us, will be fixed completely free of charge. If the fault isn't to do with the towbar fitment then you may be charged a call out fee, however this will be discussed at the time of booking.

Vehicle Warranty

Dependant on the make and model of your vehicle, the manufacturer may have offered a 3 year warranty at purchase or you may have taken an extended warranty to cover the electrics of your vehicle. If this is the case, then we recommend you choose the dedicated wiring loom. If you choose to have the universal electrics fitted to your vehicle then its possible you may lose your manufactures warranty. If you are unsure which wiring type to choose then please click here for more information.

Cycle Carrier Warranty

The Thule Cycle Carriers have a 5 years warranty. If you do have any issues then please get in touch so we can contact Thule as they will need to see the cycle carrier and determine the fault and then either fix the issue or replace the carrier. The decision is final from Thule.

For more detailed information about warranties please click here.

All of our warranties do not cover faults or damage caused by improper use or wear and tear from normal use.

You should be careful not to overload your towbar, as this is the most common cause of damage. You can check the maximum towing weight for your car here.
