More about the Volvo EX40
The Volvo EX40 stands out with its sleek silhouette, sculpted lines, and unmistakable Scandinavian elegance. Inside, a refined cabin paired with Volvo’s renowned safety technologies ensures every drive is as comfortable as it is reassuring.
Charging from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes and delivering a combined range of up to 355 miles, the Volvo EX40 is built for convenience and peace of mind on the road. Its powerful 442 horsepower ensures effortless performance, providing the capability to tow heavier trailers and even caravans with confidence.
What's my Towing Capacity?
Depending on the model, the Volvo EX40 can tow up to a maximum braked capacity of 1800kg. For your vehicle’s exact rating, please refer to the vehicle’s VIN plate. This should be in the rear right-hand door, on the central pillar between the doors.
Which Towbar is best for my EX40?
The fixed flange towbar has a towball bolted to a flat faceplate that is permanently mounted to the vehicle. It offers good versatility as you can attach accessories like bolt-on cycle carriers and bumper protector plates between the flange and the ball, however its bulkier profile makes it more visible and more likely to be detected by reversing sensors.
The fixed swan-neck towbar integrates the towball and neck into one smooth, continuous curve. Its slender shape is less intrusive and less likely to trigger reversing sensors. As the swan neck is one piece, unfortunately you cannot mount bolt-on accessories as with the flange, though it is compatible with ALKO stabilisers and clamp-on cycle carriers.
The detachable variant of the swan neck combines the sleek styling with the flexibility of removability. The neck can be locked in or removed when not in use, helping maintain the appearance of the vehicle and avoiding interference with parking sensors.
Will it need a bumper cut?
The Volvo EX40 requires a cut to a pre-marked area on the underside of the bumper.
