More about towing with a Subaru Forester
The Forester features an extensive list of safety technologies to keep you and your family protected, informed and secure during your journey. These include Eyesight driver assistant technology, Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection, and a Driver Monitoring system.
The permanent Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive provides the driver with optimum control in all driving conditions. The technology allows the driver always to have confidence and control; it continuously shifts power to the wheels that have the most traction. The Forester ensures excellent road handling, whatever the weather or terrain.
Providing 220mm ground clearance, it effortlessly negotiates rocky tracks and shallow streams and ensures the dependability and reliability that you would expect from a Subaru SUV.
If your adventures lead you to steep, extreme terrain, then there is expert support on hand immediately. With a twist of a dial, a two-stage X-MODE with Hill Descent Control will manage the driver's power, braking, and Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive. Optimum traction and grip will be provided so the driver can concentrate on safe steering to get through the mud, rocks, and rivers.
No matter what activity you choose or wherever you head out in your Forester, the family-friendly SUV is ready to take you, your family, and their gear to whatever destination you decide. At the push of a button, the powered tailgate provides instant access to the spacious boot. The boot's wide opening and square design allow for ease when organising, loading, and unloading the boot.
What’s the Towing Capacity of the Subaru Forester?
The Subaru Forester has a generous towing capacity of up to 1870KG; this is an excellent amount for towing cycle carriers, trailers or even a medium-sized caravan. To find an accurate towing capacity for your Subaru Forester, please refer to the VIN plate located on your vehicle.
Which Towbar is best for my Subaru Forester?
There are two types of towbars available for the Subaru Forester, a fixed swan neck towbar and a detachable swan neck towbar. Both styles of Towbar are similar look at; they are both compatible with clamp-on style towbars, can be used with ALKO stabilisers and offer a thin design to cause minimal inference with the vehicle's aesthetic.
The swan neck style towbars are a popular choice as they are a lot less likely to cause a disturbance with parking sensors when the vehicle is in reverse. The added bonus with a detachable swan neck towbar is that the neck can be removed after towing has been completed to guarantee the sensors will work as intended.
The detachable swan neck towbar detaches from the towbar housing using a twist and push method; once the neck is detached, the electric socket will flip up underneath the bumper, leaving the equipment looking near invisible.
Will it need a bumper cut?
There are no bumper cuts made to the Subaru Forester when fitting either the fixed swan neck towbar or the detachable swan neck towbar. However, please be aware that if your Forester's bumper has been modified or is not a standard style, this may mean that an incision may be made at the time of installation. The towbar engineer will discuss any modifications before starting the fitment.
