What's my Towing Capacity?
The Seat Ibiza has an estimated towing capacity of between 1,000KG to 1,200KG. this capacity would allow the driver to tow cycle carriers, a trailer, or a small caravan. when deciding what to tow it is incredibly important to know the weight of what you are towing as overloading your towbar can result in damage to your vehicle or the towbar becoming unhitched and causing a road traffic accident.
Which Towbar is best for my Seat Ibiza?
There are three different styles of towbars available for the Seat Ibiza, a fixed flange towbar, a fixed swan neck towbar and a detachable swan neck towbar.
The fixed flange towbar is a permanent style of towbar that attaches to the vehicle’s chassis, the fixed flange towbar offers a chunky design and is the only style of towbar that is equipped with a plate. The fixed flange plate allows drivers to attach towing accessories to the towbar including bolt-on cycle carriers or bumper protector plates, these styles of towbar accessories cannot be used with other towbars. The fixed flange towbar is compatible with all styles of cycle carriers, trailers, and caravans, however, if you intend to tow a caravan with an ALKO chassis, an ALKO towball must be fitted before towing.
The fixed swan neck is another style of permanent towbars we offer for the Seat Ibiza, the swan neck's thin design makes it the perfect match with rear parking sensors. The fixed swan neck design allows for a larger clearance between where the towbar sits and where parking sensors are situated making it a lot less likely for towbars to cause any disturbance to the sensors when the car is in reverse. The fixed swan neck towbar is compatible with all styles of clamp-on cycle carriers, trailers, and caravans. The fixed swan neck towbar is also ALKO compatible so can be used to tow a caravan with an ALKO chassis without needing an ALKO towball.
The detachable swan neck towbar is the only style of removable towbar that we offer for the Seat Ibiza. The towbar neck easily detaches from its housing using an easy twist and push method, once the towbar neck has been removed the Ibiza will return to its pre-towbar state aesthetically. The detachable towbar is compatible with all clamp-on cycle carriers, trailers, and caravans. It is also ALKO compatible meaning it can be used with caravans with an ALKO chassis without needing an ALKO towball fitting.
Will it need a bumper cut?
When fitting any of the three towbars to the Seat Ibiza the towbar engineer will not have to make any modifications, however, if you have altered the vehicle's bumper or the Ibiza is not fitted with the standard bumper this may lead to a bumper cut being made to provide enough clearance for the towbar. Our informative towbar engineer will always begin the fitment by explaining any modifications that need to be made to the vehicle and answering any questions you may have.
