More about the Seat Arona
The Arona boasts a number of safety features that take any potential stress out of towing, these include Electronic Stability Control (ESC) which detects critical driving situations and prevents any dangerous scenarios from unfolding, such as skidding. An extension of the ESC software is Trailer Stabilisation which supports the driver by providing early detection of any instability of the trailer or caravan being towed and uses both brake and engine management in order to steady the towed item.
Hill Hold Control takes all the worry out of a hill start, both while towing and not. This system will hold the vehicle's brake pressure keeping the car stationary momentarily without needing the hand brake in order to allow the driver to set off on a hill or slope problem free.
What's my Towing Capacity?
The Seat Arona has a towing capacity of up to 1,200kg which will be suitable for towing anything from a cycle carrier or small trailer to a lightweight caravan. This towing capacity is variable and dependent upon the model and spec, therefore, we would always recommend checking the VIN plate on the vehicle (usually located on one of the door pillars), as this will determine the accurate towing capacity for your specific Arona.
Which Towbar is best for my Seat Arona?
There are two types of towbar available for fitment to the Seat Arona, both of which are the swan neck style, one being detachable, the other fixed.
The Fixed Swan Neck towbar is extremely versatile and is readily compatible with ALKO Stabilisers and also fits most clamp-on style cycle carriers. The Fixed Swan Neck is thin and sleek in design, making it less likely to interfere with your parking sensors, should your vehicle have these, although it is permanently fixed to the vehicle, so this cannot be guaranteed.
The Detachable Swan Neck towbar is identical in design to the Fixed Swan Neck, however, the neck of the towbar is detachable, meaning that you can remove the towbar neck when not towing. The electrical plate will also fold up underneath the bumper, removing all visible evidence of a towbar when not in use. The Detachable Swan Neck towbar is also compatible with all clamp-on style cycle carriers, trailers and caravans, and is also compatible with ALKO stabilisers.
Will it need a bumper cut?
Towbars for the Seat Arona require a non-visible visible bumper cut, allowing for minimal impact on the vehicle’s aesthetics. On detachable towbars, this generally hides any evidence of a towbar fitting from the rear of the vehicle whilst the neck is detached and the electrics are pivoted behind the bumper. Some models require a pre-marked cut to be removed from the bumper.
