Renowned for its compact size, the Renault Kangoo makes nipping through busy city traffic easy and parking in tight spaces trouble-free. Despite its small size, the Kangoo is surprisingly spacious, with a roomy cargo area holding up to 3000 litres, along with a flexible seating arrangement that can be configured to meet a variety of needs.
The Renault Kangoo comes readily equipped with a range of safety features which help take the stress out of towing, giving the driver confidence and reassurance in their vehicle when towing. Some of these features include trailer stability control, which helps keep the van and trailer stable when on the road, even in challenging driving conditions. Also, the Kangoo's braking system is designed to handle the extra weight that may be involved when towing, ensuring the driver has the necessary stopping capabilities when and if needed.
What's my Towing Capacity?
The towing capacity for the Renault Kangoo is up to 1050kg which is a reasonable towing capacity and would give the driver a number of options from a towbar-mounted cycle carrier or small trailer to a lightweight caravan. In order to check the specific towing capacity for your vehicle, we would always recommend checking the VIN plate as this will give an accurate maximum towing weight.
Which Towbar is best for my Renault Kangoo?
We offer three different styles of towbar for the Renault Kangoo Van, all of which are a great addition to your vehicle, with their own individual strengths and benefits. The towbars available include the Fixed Flange Towbar, the Fixed Swan Neck Towbar and the Detachable Swan Neck Towbar.
The Fixed Flange towbar is permanently fixed to the vehicle one fitted and cannot be removed when not in use. The fixed flange is the cheapest option and still extremely versatile as it is fitted with a back plate that allows for all bolt-on accessories, meaning you can tow a trailer/caravan on your towbar whilst attaching a bolt-on cycle carrier at the same time for example. It is worth noting that the fixed flange is not ALKO compatible, and an additional ALKO tow ball would be required if you were planning to tow a caravan with an ALKO stabiliser.
The fixed swan neck is also non-removable once fitted and cannot be detached when not towing but aesthetically, is a slimmer, more streamlined design than the fixed flange meaning if your vehicle has parking sensors it would be less likely to interfere with these, although this cannot be guaranteed. The swan neck style towbars are readily compatible with ALKO stabilisers and also suitable for use with all clamp-on cycle carriers, trailers and caravans.
The Detachable Swan Neck towbar is the only removable towbar we offer, and the whole towbar neck can be removed when not being used to tow, and the electrical plate folds up under the bumper leaving nothing easily visible. Therefore, if your vehicle has parking sensors, we always recommend the Detachable Swan Neck towbar as this removes any chance of the towbar interfering with the sensors when not in use. Similarly, to the fixed swan neck, the detachable swan neck towbar is also ALKO compatible.
Will it need a bumper cut?
During the installation of your towbar, there is no requirement for the bumper to be removed from the vehicle nor do any alterations need to be made to the bumper, such as a bumper cut, thus making the fitment to a Renault Kangoo Van straight forward.
