Can a towbar be fitted to a Nissan Note?
Yes. Towbar Express can supply and fit a towbar to suitable Nissan Note models. The towbar applications currently available from Towbar Express are for the Nissan Note E12 diesel models produced from 2013 to 2017. The Note has been produced in different generations and with different engines, so the exact model year and engine should be checked before a towbar is selected.
What towbar options are available for the Nissan Note?
Towbar Express currently offers two towbar options for the Nissan Note E12 diesel from 2013 to 2017: a fixed swan neck towbar and a detachable swan neck towbar. The fixed swan neck provides a neat and compact permanent towing solution, while the detachable swan neck allows the towbar neck to be removed when it isn't required. Both options are suitable for compatible clamp-on cycle carriers and AL-KO stabilisers.
Which towbar is best for my Nissan Note?
If you want a permanent towbar, the fixed swan neck is a neat and compact option. Its slimmer design is less prominent than a traditional flange-style towbar and is suitable for compatible clamp-on cycle carriers. If you prefer the towbar to be removed when it isn't required, the detachable swan neck is the better option. Removing the neck also means it cannot be detected by the rear parking sensors when it is not in use. Both towbar options are compatible with AL-KO stabilisers.
What is the towbar rated to on a Nissan Note?
The maximum rating depends on the exact towbar fitted and must always be considered alongside the towing limit of the Nissan Note itself. A towbar's structural rating does not increase the amount that the vehicle is permitted to tow. The vehicle, towbar, towball and trailer must all remain within their individual limits, with the lowest applicable figure determining the maximum permitted load. You can find more information in our guide to maximum towing weights.
How do I check how much my Nissan Note can tow?
Towing capacity varies considerably between Nissan Note generations and engines. Towbar Express advises checking the exact rating shown for the individual vehicle rather than relying on a single figure for every Note. The vehicle's VIN plate contains the relevant weight information and should be used alongside the manufacturer's technical specifications to establish the permitted towing weight. This is particularly important with the Note because different generations and engine versions can have significantly different towing limits.
Does my Nissan Note need a bumper cut?
The exact installation requirements depend on the Nissan Note and towbar application. The towbar is designed specifically around the vehicle's chassis and rear bumper profile, with the towbar attached using the appropriate mounting points. Towbar Express will confirm the fitting requirements for the exact vehicle and towbar before installation.
Will the bumper cut be visible on my Nissan Note?
The exact rear bumper requirements will be confirmed for the individual Nissan Note and towbar application before fitting. Where any modification is required, our engineers follow the towbar manufacturer's fitting instructions carefully to achieve a neat installation. The detachable swan neck also has the advantage that the towbar neck can be removed when it isn't required, helping to maintain the original appearance at the rear of the vehicle.
What electrics do you fit to a Nissan Note?
We fit 13-pin towing electrics to the Nissan Note using the appropriate vehicle-specific wiring. The dedicated electrical kit is selected for the exact vehicle and is designed to integrate correctly with the Note's electrical system while providing the required trailer or cycle-carrier lighting functions.
Will a towbar affect my Nissan Note parking sensors?
If your Nissan Note has rear parking sensors, the detachable swan neck is the best option if you want to remove the possibility of the towbar neck being detected when it isn't in use. Once the detachable neck has been removed, there is no towball remaining behind the vehicle for the sensors to detect. The fixed swan neck has a slim and compact design and is less likely to interfere with parking sensors than a bulkier towbar design, although this cannot be guaranteed because it depends on the position of the sensors and the shape of the rear bumper.
Is the Nissan Note towbar compatible with AL-KO stabilisers?
Yes. Both the fixed swan neck and detachable swan neck towbar options currently offered by Towbar Express for the Nissan Note are compatible with AL-KO stabilisers. Their swan neck design provides the necessary arrangement for compatible stabiliser hitches without requiring the separate AL-KO-style towball associated with some flange towbar installations.
Can you fit a towbar to my Nissan Note at home?
Yes. Towbar Express offers mobile towbar fitting, so our engineer can fit your Nissan Note towbar at your home or workplace. Appointments are available in two slots: 8am–12pm or 12pm–6pm. Before fitting, we will confirm the exact model year and engine to ensure the vehicle matches the appropriate Nissan Note towbar application, along with the correct dedicated 13-pin electrical kit.
