More about The MG HS
The HS is equipped with features that provide a smooth driving experience from the moment the key turns in the ignition. The 360-degree parking camera and rear parking sensors are part of the parking assist technology that ensures every manoeuvre is completed with ease.
The advanced Driver Assist Package is a newly updated system that allows the driver to feel confident and safe during every drive. The Adaptive Cruise Control works alongside the driver every time they enter a motorway. The system will automatically speed up and slow down depending on the distance from the vehicles in front, therefore making long-distance driving safer and easier. The HS also has Collision Warning technology, Automatic Braking, and Lane Keep Assist on hand to provide peace of mind to the driver every time they get behind the wheel. The safety systems in the HS work hard to reduce the risk of collisions and protect the driver and its passengers on every journey.
What's my Towing Capacity?
The MG HS has a towing capacity of between 1500KG to 1750KG; this is the perfect capacity for towing cycle carriers, a trailer, or a lightweight trailer. Please refer to your vehicle's VIN plate to receive an accurate towing capacity for your MG HS.
Which Towbar is best for my MG HS?
We offer a range of towbars for the MG HS, which all have different qualities and are tailored to your towing needs.
The fixed flange is a permanent towbar that is fixed to the vehicle's bumper; this Towbar cannot be removed from the vehicle after towing. The chunky design of the Towbar is preferred by customers who are in high-traffic areas and want to prevent other vehicles from damaging their bumpers; it also allows for bolt-on accessories to be added to the plate at the rear of the Towbar. The fixed flange towbar can cause interference with reverse parking sensors due to its positioning and the width of the Towbar. The fixed flange style towbar is the only Towbar compatible with all cycle carriers but can also be used to tow trailers and caravans. If you are towing a caravan with an ALKO-style bumper, you must purchase an ALKO-style towbar.
The fixed swan neck is another permanent towbar style that cannot be removed at the end of towing. The fixed swan neck is a lot thinner in design than the fixed flange style towbar; this means that it is less likely to cause any disturbance when your vehicle is in reverse. The fixed swan neck is compatible with clamp-on style cycle carriers, caravans, and trailers. There is no need to purchase an ALKO towball when towing with an ALKO stabiliser, as the regular towball will allow enough room to attach.
Finally, the detachable swan neck is the only style of Towbar where the towbar neck can be detached. The towbar neck is removed easily using a twist and push method, like opening a medicine bottle. The towbar neck can be locked using a key to protect it from theft. This Towbar is an excellent option for customers who wish for their vehicle to return to its original aesthetics at the end of towing. Once the towbar neck is removed, the electrics flip up under the bumper leaving the remaining Towbar practically invisible. The detachable swan neck is compatible with all clamp-on style towbars, caravans and trailers. Similar to the fixed swan neck towbar, there is no need to purchase an ALKO towball with towing an ALKO stabiliser.
Will it need a bumper cut?
No bumper modifications are required on any of the towbars listed for the MG HS; however, if your HS doesn't have the standard bumper or has been modified, it may mean that some slight alterations to the bumper are made during fitment. Our professional engineers will discuss any bumper cuts with you before starting the installation.
