More about Mercedes GLE-Class
Should excitement be more appealing than the economy model, the Mercedes GLE-Class has its sporty options. The vehicle can be purchased as a six-cylinder petrol GLE 450 and AMG-badged GLE 53 model, completed with a sports exhaust to add pops and crackles to the acceleration.
The lofty seating position gives a good view of the road ahead, and a rear-view camera and parking sensors come as standard. The GLE-Class also benefits from a 360-degree bird's eye view camera when you opt for the AMG Line Premium package.
As previously mentioned, this monster Mercedes can comfortably carry 7 passengers, with plenty of leg room for those needing to stretch out. The large boot ensures plenty of storage and can take up to 8 carry-on cases below the parcel shelf.
Every Mercedes GLE comes with a three-year, unlimited mileage warranty, which can be protected when you opt for the vehicle-specific wiring option when booking your towbar installation. The warranty includes roadside assistance for three years to prevent you from being stranded should your vehicle break down.

What's my Towing Capacity?
The Mercedes GLE-Class boasts a generous towing weight of approximately 2700KG unless you select the towing pack, which boosts all but the 300d to 3500KG to match its rivals. However, this can be subject to change depending on the model of the vehicle. To find an accurate towing capacity for your vehicle, please refer to the VIN plate located either under the bonnet or on the passenger side door sill.
Which Towbar is best for my Mercedes GLE-Class?
We offer the detachable swan neck towbar, fixed swan neck towbar, and fixed flange towbar for the Mercedes GLE-Class. All styles of towbars are great for towing but provide different options to help tailor to the driver's needs.
The fixed flange towbar is great for those who prefer a permanent towbar and don't want to remove the neck once towing has been completed. The fixed flange towbar is chunkier in design and is often the cheaper option. The fixed flange towbar has a backing plate to the rear of the Towbar, which allows for towing accessories to be bolted to the back of the Towbar; this allows the driver to tow and attach an accessory to the backing plate at the same time. Please be aware that because of the design of the towbar and depending on the position of the rear sensors, there is sometimes interference with parking sensors when the fixed flange towbar is fitted.
If you require a fixed towbar but you’re worried about your parking sensors, then a fixed swan neck style towbar could be the perfect option. The slender design of the bar makes it much less likely to interfere with your parking sensors, although this can never be guaranteed.
The detachable swan neck towbar is the perfect fit for those who want to remove the towbar neck when they have finished towing. The simple twist and lock mechanism on the towbar neck allows for a simple removal when it comes to packing away the towbar.
If your GLE is equipped with parking sensors, then the detachable Towbar is a sensible choice depending on the position of the sensors. The detachable swan neck is ALKO compatible and can be used with all ALKO stabilisers without any additional extras.
Will it need a bumper cut?
All three towbar options will require a bumper cut to allow enough clearance for the neck of the towbar to sit in the correct position. The small cut is determined by Mercedes themselves and will not be visible unless looking directly under the vehicle. The bumper will need to be removed for installation and replaced upon completion.
