What's my Towing Capacity?
The Mercedes EQA has an average towing capacity of 750 kg, this is an impressive amount for an all-electric vehicle and will enable the driver to experience a range of towing opportunities. When deciding on what you want to tow it is extremely important to check the weight of what you are towing as overloading the towbar can have catastrophic results. Which Towbar is best for my Mercedes EQA?
The only towbar available for the Mercedes EQA is the detachable swan neck towbar, this style of towbar allows the driver to detach the towbar neck from its housing using a simple twist and push method. The detachable swan neck towbar uses a lock system to protect the towbar from theft. The detachable swan neck towbar is popular with drivers whose Mercedes EQAs are equipped with rear parking sensors, as the thin design of the towbar allows for a larger clearance between where the towbar sits and where the parking sensors are located. This clearance allows the parking sensors to work as intended each time the vehicle is put into reverse.
When the towbar is in use, the vehicle-specific wiring will inform the vehicle that it is towing and therefore turn off the sensors meaning the driver doesn’t need to listen to a constant beeping when the vehicle is in reverse. The detachable swan neck towbar is compatible with all clamp-on style cycle carriers, trailers and caravans. It is also ALKO compatible, meaning it can tow a caravan with an ALKO stabiliser without having to purchase an ALKO towball.
Will it need a bumper cut?
When fitting the detachable swan neck towbar to the Mercedes EQA a small non-visible bumper cut is made to the undertray of the vehicle. This incision will only be visible when looking underneath the vehicle, directly at the bumper cut. If your vehicle has been modified or is not fitted with the standard bumper this could lead to a larger cut being made. Our informative towbar engineer will always discuss any modifications before starting the fitment, they will also answer any questions you made have regarding the installation.
