Mercedes E-Class Towbars

Mercedes E-Class

While it's more expensive than its rivals, all versions of the E-Class are well equipped and, overall, the E-Class an efficient and stylish package that's well worth considering if you're in the market for a new executive saloon.

Times have changed for Mercedes, as have the shapes. Primarily, the Mercedes line-up was exclusively based on the E-Class size of saloon, however with the introduction of different models in the range, the E-Class is now titled the ‘OG’ of the full range. The designers at Mercedes are more than aware of the demand for the iconic original, which is why it gets a host of hi-tech gadgets, advanced engines and a plush fit and finish to ensure it maintains its appeal.

Checking your VIN Plate...

Please remember to check your vehicle's towing capacity shown on the VIN plate. If your car doesn't have a towing capacity, we cannot legally fit a Towbar to your vehicle. We recommend you do this before booking, as some vehicles vary throughout make and model (even though we may show some available).

More about your Mercedes E Class

The current E-Class arrived on the market 8 years ago, which makes the W213 model the fifth generation of its kind. Its saloon style dates all the way back to Mercedes roots in the 1950’s, keeping a classic edge to the desirable vehicle whilst remaining competitive within its sector.

The entry level diesel edition of the E-class is now faster and more efficient than ever before, making it the perfect business or commuting vehicle, and the AMG performance models add that extra injection of speed for those requiring more pace.

There’s an admirable range of engines in the E-Class, with diesel, petrol, and hybrid powertrains on offer. The E-Class hasn’t yet stepped into the Electric Vehicle world, but the hybrid versions offer a sustainable transport option with minimal emissions.

Strong rivals for the top spot for industry leading saloons are the BMW 5 Series and Audi A6, but the timeless appeal of the E-Class remains strong and ensures stability as a leading light in the executive saloon class.

Like the last model, the current E-Class is offered in four body styles: four-door saloon, estate (including the four-wheel-drive All-Terrain Edition), coupe and convertible. All versions borrow technology from the S-Class limousine, with a sprinkle of S-Class styling too.

Mercedes facelifted the E-Class in 2020, with exterior styling tweaks including reshaped lights, a new radiator grille and a re-profiled bumper. At the rear of the saloon model, the previous rounded taillights have been switched for wider units. The E-Class also comes with the manufacturer's latest MBUX infotainment system as standard, with two 12.3-inch screens.

The entry Sport trim is no longer available, which leaves the AMG Line, AMG Line Premium and AMG Line Night Edition Premium Plus. AMG Line has a sporty look with 18-inch grey alloys, while the two Premium packages add features such as bigger wheels, a Parking Assist system, a keyless-go function, and a panoramic sunroof.

What's my Towing Capacity?

The Mercedes E-Class has an average towing capacity of around 1800KG to 2,100KG. This capacity is perfect for hitching a cycle carrier, trailer and up to a medium-sized caravan. We always advise to checking the weight of what you are planning to tow as overloading your towbar can result in damage to the vehicle, towbar and in extreme situations can cause the load to unhitch. To be able to check the towing capacity for your own Mercedes E-Class please refer to the VIN plate that is located either under the bonnet or passenger door sill.

Which Towbar is best for my Mercedes E Class?

There are three different towbars available for the Mercedes E-Class. A fixed flange towbar, a fixed swan neck towbar and a detachable swan neck towbar. All three of the towbars are compatible with trailers, clamp-on cycle carriers and caravans. The fixed and detachable swan neck towbars are both ALKO compatible, meaning that no ALKO ball is required when towing a caravan with an ALKO stabiliser.

If your vehicle has parking sensors, then we would strongly recommend opting for the detachable swan neck towbar. This will ensure that there is no interference with your parking sensors, as you are able to remove the neck when not in use.

Will it need a bumper cut?

When fitting a towbar to the Mercedes E-Class the bumper would need to be removed throughout fitment but will be refitted upon the completion. A small bumper cut is made to all the standard models of the Mercedes E-Class. The bumper cut will be made to the undertray of the vehicle, and therefore will be invisible unless looking at the bumper from underneath the vehicle.
