More about the Mazda CX-5
Mazda's latest technologies allow the connection between driver and car to be second to none. Mazda's G- Vectoring Control Plus can control the handling and the stability of the vehicle, enhancing driving enjoyment. When taking a corner, the system will lightly apply brake force to the outer wheels as the steering wheel is turned into the centre position, allowing the vehicle to maintain greater stability. This, therefore, enables the car to better handle emergency avoidance manoeuvers and allows more control when making high-speed lane changes and driving on slippery roads.
Jam-packed with safety features, the Mazda CX-5 has been designed to allow the driver to make any journey confidently. One of the new features is the Smart City Brake Support, which helps the driver avoid frontal collisions when driving at slow speeds; these are common when driving around urban areas or in congested traffic. When travelling at a low speed, a laser sensor mounted on the windshield will monitor any traffic in front.
If the system detects any risk of collision, it will prepare the brake system to deliver the maximum stopping power when the driver brakes if the driver doesn't take any action on the system. Will simultaneously apply the brake and reduce the engine output, aiming to avoid the collision or reduce the impact's severity.
The Mazda CX-5 has been designed for all-round visibility, equipped with several ingenious electronic systems, such as the 360-degree view monitor. The 360-degree view monitor displays the immediate environment on the Mazda Connect infotainment screen streaming from the camera system that is located on all four sides of the vehicle. The four-camera system can display multiple views of the vehicle, including front, side, wide rear, wide rear, normal rear and top-down. The monitor also features the front and rear parking sensors, making it easier for the driver to navigate tight spaces. If the vehicle becomes too close to an obstacle, the sensors will audibly alert the driver.
Which Towbar is best for my Mazda CX-5?
A wide range of towbars is available for the Mazda CX-5, each one offering something different to the driver.
First is the fixed flange towbar; this is a permanent towbar that cannot be removed once towing has been completed. The fixed flange towbar is chunkier in design, which can mean that if your CX-5 is fitted with rear sensors, they may detect the towball and therefore beep when in reverse. The fixed flange is equipped with a rear backing plate that allows for towing accessories to be fitted to the Towbar, meaning the driver would be able to tow a trailer and a bolt-on cycle carrier at the same time.
The fixed swan neck is another permanent towbar; however, this Towbar is much thinner in design. This style of Towbar is popular with customers who wish to have a permanent towbar, but their CX-5 is fitted with rear sensors. Due to the thinner design, the fixed swan neck is much less likely to interfere with the parking sensors when in reverse; however, this cannot be guaranteed. The fixed swan neck is ALKO compatible so that it can be used with all trailers, all caravans (even ones fitted with an ALKO stabilizer), and all clamp-on style cycle carriers.
The detachable Towbar is the only removable Towbar in our range; this means that once towing has been completed, the driver can remove the towbar neck quickly and easily. This leaves the Towbar practically invisible. Most drivers with rear parking sensors opt for this Towbar as it is guaranteed to allow the parking sensors to work as expected when the towbar neck is removed. The detachable swan neck is compatible with all ALKO stabilizers and can be used with clamp-on style cycle carriers and trailers.
What is the towing capacity on the Mazda CX-5?
The Mazda CX-5 has an approximate towing weight of 1800KG, which makes it a pretty versatile SUV when it comes to towing. The generous capacity allows the driver to tow anything from a cycle carrier to a small caravan. However, we always advise referring to your VIN plate for an accurate reading.
Will my Mazda CX-5 need a bumper cut?
When fitting a towbar to the Mazda CX-5, no modifications are needed; the engineers can complete the fitment without removing the bumper. No bumper cuts will be made on standard trim bumpers; however, this may need to be modified if your CX-5 has a different trim. If you are unsure which bumper your CX-5 has or would like some further information, don't hesitate to get in touch with our sales team, who will be happy to assist.
