What's the Towing Capacity of a Kia Stonic?
The Kia Stonic has an estimated towing capacity of 900KG, this capacity would allow the driver to tow a cycle carrier, trailer, or a small caravan. To find an accurate towing capacity for your Kia Stonic please refer to the vehicle's VIN plate. It is extremely important to know the weight of what you intend to tow as overloading the towbar could not only lead to damage to your vehicle but also to the towbar becoming unhitched and potentially causing a road traffic accident.
Which Towbar is best for my Kia Stonic?
There are two styles of towbars available for the Kia Stonic, a fixed swan neck towbar and a detachable swan neck towbar. Although in their appearance they are identical, the detachable swan neck is the only style of towbar that can be detached from the towbar housing.
The detachable swan neck uses a simple twist and push method to easily detach from the neck, however, it also comes with a lock to secure the towbar neck when it is attached. Both styles of swan neck style towbars are popular with drivers whose Kia Stonics are equipped with rear parking sensors as the thin design of the towbar neck allows for a larger clearance between where the towbar is fitted and where the rear parking sensors are situated, this allows the driver to put the car in reverse and the parking sensors work as intended.
The fixed swan neck towbar and the detachable swan neck towbar are compatible with all clamp-on cycle carriers, trailers and caravans, they are also ALKO compatible meaning no ALKO towball is required when towing a caravan with an ALKO stabiliser.
Will it need a bumper cut?
When fitting either the fixed swan neck towbar or the detachable swan neck towbar to the Kia Stonic a non-visible bumper cut will be made to the vehicle's undertray. The incision will only be visible when looking underneath the car. If your Kia Stonic has been altered or is not fitted with the standard bumper, a larger bumper cut may be made when installing the towbar. Our informative towbar engineers will begin the fitment by explaining any modifications that will be made to the vehicle during the installation and answering any questions you may have. If you have any questions about bumper cuts please contact our helpful sales team.
