Checking your VIN Plate...

Please remember to check your vehicle's towing capacity shown on the VIN plate. If your car doesn't have a towing capacity, we cannot legally fit a Towbar to your vehicle. We recommend you do this before booking, as some vehicles vary throughout make and model (even though we may show some available).

More about the Ford Focus

The Driver Assistance package has been designed to take the pressure off the driver and create an advanced safety system that does all the hard work. As roads become busier and the number of distractions increasing the intelligent system works to make journeys easier, the package is made up of Active Park Assist, Front View Wide Camera, Quick Clear Heated Windscreen, Intelligent Adaptative Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assistance, Hill Start Assist, Blind Sport Information System and many more safety advanced features. Each feature works with the vehicle to predict and prevent incidents that may occur, once the system believes a threat has been discovered it will warn the driver and if needed will override the car to bring it to a halt.

The Ford Focus is equipped with Traffic Sign Recognition takes the distraction away from the driver, the system identifies the signs and displays all the information to the driver including speed limits, this will update every time you enter a new speed zone.

The Ford Focus works hard to make sure the driver and its passengers are safe no matter the driving conditions. The Roll Stability Control system continually monitors the vehicle and driving conditions, if a dangerous situation is prominent that could cause the vehicle to roll the system kicks in. it will trigger Electronic Stability Control to intervene by controlling the car's speed and work to restore stability. The handling of the vehicle is always important, the Electronic Stability Control uses sensors from the Anti-lock braking and traction control systems to sense if your vehicle is losing grip. If the Focus detects the driver is in danger from lack of stability it will automatically apply a braking pulse to the individual wheels to help stabilise the car.

What's my Towing Capacity?

The Ford Focus has an average towing capacity of around 1000KG to 1,700KG, this capacity would allow its driver to tow cycle carriers, trailers, and a small caravan. To find an accurate towing capacity please refer to the vehicle's VIN plate.

Which Towbar is best for my Ford Focus?

There are three different towbars available for the Ford Focus, the fixed flange towbar, the fixed swan neck towbar, and the detachable swan neck towbar.

The fixed flange towbar is a permanent style of towbar that is fixed to the vehicle’s chassis. The fixed flange towbar is fitted with a plate which allows for bolt-on accessories to attach to the towbar leaving the towball hitch-free. The fixed flange towbar is the only style of towbar that is compatible with all styles of cycle carriers, although it can also tow caravans and trailers. If you intend to tow a caravan with an ALKO stabiliser, the fixed flange would require an ALKO towball to be fitted beforehand.

The fixed swan neck is another style of fixed towbar; however, the swan is much thinner in its design. The fixed swan neck towbar is popular with drivers whose Ford Focus is fitted with rear parking sensors. The thin design of the towbar neck offers a lot more clearance between the towbar and the rear parking sensors making it a lot less likely to cause interference with the parking sensors when the car is in reverse. The fixed swan neck towbar is AKLO compatible which means that no ALKO ball is required when towing a caravan with an ALKO stabiliser. The fixed swan neck is compatible with all clamp-on cycle carriers, caravans and trailers.

The detachable swan neck is identical to the fixed swan neck towbar but with one main difference, the towbar neck can detach from its housing when towing has been completed. The detachable neck is easily removed using a twist and push method, once the neck has been removed the electric socket will flip up underneath the bumper. The detachable neck is the perfect choice for drivers who wish to retain the look of their bumper, as once the towbar neck has been removed the vehicle will return to its pre-towbar state with all traces of a towbar practically invisible. The detachable swan neck towbar is compatible with all styles of clamp-on-cycle carriers, trailers, and caravans.

Will it need a bumper cut?

When fitting a towbar to the Ford Focus a small non-visible bumper cut is made to the vehicle's undertray. This bumper cut would only be visible when looking underneath the vehicle, however, if your Ford Focus does not have a standard bumper or has been modified this could require a larger incision to be made. Our informative towbar engineer will discuss any modifications required for your vehicle's bumper before starting the installation. Our helpful sales team are also on hand to discuss any queries you may have about your towbar installation.
