More about the Citroen C4 Picasso
The C4 Picasso is designed with stability in mind, making it a safe and reliable vehicle for towing. It features electronic stability control (ESC), which helps to keep the car and trailer stable on the road, even in challenging driving conditions. The C4 Picasso is also available with Trailer stability assist which will automatically detect any trailer sway and takes corrective measures to keep the trailer stable. This helps to reduce the risk of accidents and makes towing easier and safer. Hill start assist is another useful safety feature, particularly when towing as it prevents the vehicle from rolling back when setting off from an incline, giving the driver piece of mind when towing.
What's my Towing Capacity?
The Citroen C4 Picasso supports a towing capacity of up to 1500kg. Still, it is always recommended to check the vehicle's VIN plate, which is usually found in one of the door pillars, as this will give you your vehicle's accurate maximum towing weight.
Which Towbar is best for my Citroen C4 Picasso?
All three types of towbar that we offer are available for fitment to the Citroen C4 Picasso and any would be a great addition to your vehicle, some may be better suited than others, depending upon your requirements and what you intend to tow.
The Fixed Flange towbar would be the cheapest option and still extremely versatile being compatible with most accessories, including all bolt-on accessories. This would enable you, not only to tow your caravan or trailer but also to attach your bolt-on cycle carrier, for example, at the same time. The Fixed Flange can also be fitted with a bumper guard which would protect any damage being incurred to the bumper of the vehicle. It is worth noting that the Fixed Flange is not ALKO compatible and if your caravan has an ALKO stabiliser, an ALKO towball would be necessary when towing this. The Fixed Flange is also the bulkiest, aesthetically, meaning that if your vehicle has parking sensors, there is a high probability that it will interfere with these when towing is not taking place as this style is permanently fixed and non-removable when not in use.
The Fixed Swan Neck is also a permanently fixed style of towbar, however, is slimmer and sleeker in design making it less likely to be picked up by parking sensors, but this still cannot be guaranteed. The Swan Neck design is readily compatible with ALKO stabilisers and also fits most clamp-on style cycle carriers.
The Detachable Swan Neck towbar is the only detachable towbar we provide and should your vehicle have parking sensors, this would be the perfect choice as the towbar neck itself can be easily removed when not in use and the electric plate folded up underneath the bumper, leaving nothing visible to be picked up by the parking sensors. Similarly to the Fixed Swan Neck, the Detachable Swan Neck is ALKO compatible, so no extra towballs would be required if your caravan has an ALKO stabiliser. The Detachable Swan Neck is also compatible with a variety of other towing options including most cycle carriers.
Will it need a bumper cut?
During fitment to the Citroen C4 Picasso, the bumper will be removed for the duration. A small cut will also be made to the undertray, but this should not be visible unless viewing the vehicle from the ground up and it is essential to ensure there is adequate clearance for the towbar neck itself.
