Can a towbar be fitted to an Audi Q5?

What towbar options are available for the Audi Q5?
The Audi Q5 is available with a fixed flange towbar, fixed swan neck towbar or detachable swan neck towbar. A fixed towbar remains permanently fitted, while the detachable swan neck can be removed when you're not towing, leaving a much cleaner appearance at the rear of the Q5.
Which towbar is best for my Audi Q5?

What is the towbar rated to on an Audi Q5?
The Tow-Trust towbars available for the Audi Q5 are rated to a maximum towing weight of 2,400 kg and a maximum vertical (nose) load of 100 kg. These are the limits of the towbar itself and do not necessarily represent how much your particular Q5 can tow. Your vehicle's permitted towing capacity depends on its engine, powertrain and specification, and you must never exceed the lower of the vehicle or towbar limits. How do I check how much my Audi Q5 can tow?
The best way to establish the towing capacity of your Audi Q5 is to check the vehicle's VIN plate. The plate displays the vehicle's maximum authorised mass and maximum train weight. Where a train weight is specified, subtracting the first weight figure from the second gives the vehicle's permitted trailer weight. You can find more information in our towing weight guide. Does my Audi Q5 need a bumper cut?
This depends on the generation and bumper fitted to your Q5. The first-generation Q5 (2008–2017) requires a bumper cut with the Tow-Trust towbar options, but the cut is concealed. On Q5 models from 2017 onwards, vehicles with a factory pre-cut bumper do not require an additional cut, while vehicles without the pre-cut section will require a concealed bumper cut. The rear bumper is removed during installation and carefully refitted afterwards.
Will the bumper cut be visible on my Audi Q5?
No. Where a bumper cut is required for the Audi Q5 towbar installation, it is made in a concealed area and is not visible during normal use. Some later Q5 models are already fitted with a factory pre-cut bumper, so no additional cut is required.
What electrics do you fit to an Audi Q5?
We fit 13-pin towing electrics to the Audi Q5. We use vehicle-specific wiring designed to integrate with the Q5's electrical systems and provide the connections required for trailer or caravan lighting and other supported 13-pin functions.
Will a towbar affect my Audi Q5's parking sensors?
A fixed towbar can sometimes be detected by rear parking sensors, depending on the vehicle and sensor position. On later Q5 models, the vehicle-specific electrical system can provide automatic parking sensor deactivation when the vehicle has been correctly coded for towing. A detachable swan neck towbar can also be completely removed when you're not towing, leaving the rear of the vehicle clear during everyday driving.
Is the Audi Q5 towbar compatible with AL-KO stabilisers?
Yes. A swan neck towbar can be used with AL-KO and Winterhoff stabiliser hitches commonly fitted to caravans. If you choose a fixed flange towbar, the correct AL-KO compatible towball should be used when towing a caravan fitted with an AL-KO stabiliser.
