More about Audi Q2 Towbars
There are a couple of petrol engines – a three-cylinder 116PS (114bhp) 1.0-litre and a 150PS (148bhp) 1.4-litre. The more powerful of the two will be great for towing, with a kerb weight of 1340kg for the manual. Despite the shrunken SUV appearance, the 1.6 diesel is front-wheel drive rather than a 4x4, but even on damp roads the Audi Q2 does a good job of putting its power to the road.
Even on the standard suspension, the Audi Q2 feels like it could handle a lot more power. This is the only engine available with Quattro four-wheel drive, which increases the kerb weight to 1550kg and sees the legal towing limit jump to 1800kg. For regular towing, this looks like the pick of the range.
What’s the Towing Capacity for Audi Q2?
The Audi Q2 has an approximate towing capacity of 2,233kg's. It is extremely important to be aware of the weight of what you are wanting to tow as overloading the towbar can result in damage to the vehicle or the towbar. The Vin Plate provides an accurate towing capacity for individual cars and can be found under the bonnet or on the passenger door sill.
Which Towbar is best for my Audi Q2?
We offer 3 different type of towbars for the Q2.
The fixed flange towbar is an excellent option for those who do not wish to remove the Towbar after they have finished towing, although the chunkier design is known for causing some interference from the rear parking sensors. The fixed flange towbar is great for pairing with towing accessories such as bumper protector plates and bolt on cycle carriers. The accessories use the bolt on plate at the rear of the towbar meaning the driver is able to use the accessories at the same time as towing.
The fixed swan neck towbar has a thinner towbar neck to the fixed flange towbar and therefore is less likely to be detected by parking sensors; however, this is not guaranteed. This is a great option for those who prefer a sleeker-looking towbar but do not want to remove it after towing is completed. The fixed swan neck is compatible with all ALKO stabilisers and can be used with all cycle carriers that clamp on to the towball.
The detachable swan neck towbar is the perfect choice for those who want to protect their vehicle's aesthetic. Once towing is completed, the towbar neck can be removed, and the Towbar will appear practically invisible. The towbar neck is removed by unlocking the neck and using a twist and push action. The detachable towbar is also compatible with all ALKO stabilisers and all clamp on style cycle carriers.
Will my Audi Q2 need a bumper cut?
A bumper cut is not required for this vehicle. However, the bumper will need removing for the fitment and will be replaced once complete.
