Towing using an A-frame

A-frames are used to tow vehicles behind your motorhome, which does give you more flexibility to travel around and explore smaller streets and areas you may not be able to travel with your motorhome. Instead of towing your caravan with a larger vehicle you could use an A-frame to tow your smaller vehicle with a motorhome.

We do not stock A-frames due to the legalities and for insurance purposes.

It is a complicated area and if you are looking at towing using an A-frame then click here to insure you are following the towing legislation. Please note that the laws changed in 2014 which has made some A-frames illegal to use when towing.

One other consideration you need to look into is the nose weight of your towbar. You need to also check the details in regards to the braking system on the vehicle. Some new vehicles have safety features such as advanced emergency braking (AEB), electronic stability control (ECS) etc. These technologies may render the vehicle unsuitable for use with an A-frame.

If you are towing using an A-frame outside UK, then you will need to check the legalities of this, as many European countries have their own laws and legislation you will need to be aware of.
