So whether you’re looking for the perfect coastal caravan site or a pitch that’s close to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, here’s some of the best places to travel with your caravan in the UK.Trevalgan Touring Park, Cornwall
Cornwall is a firm favourite with caravanners for many reasons - but Trevalgan Touring Park in particular is one of the best campsites in the area.
Located right near the north Cornish coastline, the campsite is just a stone’s throw from St Ives and just a 40 minute drive to Land’s End.
Beach lovers will be pleased to know that nearby Porthminster and Carbis Bay are home to some of Cornwall’s best golden-sand beaches.
The campsite itself has free hot showers, toilets with underfloor heating, dish-washing facilities, disposal points for chemical toilets, a football pitch, an outdoor play area and more.
There are plenty of hard-standing and grass touring caravan pitches, some of which are available with electric hook-ups. Dogs are also welcome on the campsite, as long as they’re kept on a lead at all times.
Orchard Holiday Park, Isle of Wight
Winner of multiple Practical Motor home/Practical Caravan awards and even an AA Campsite of the Year award, Orchard Holiday Park is a gem in the carvanning world.
Situated in a rural village and bordering the outskirts of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty by the coast, the site is considered one of the best in the Isle of Wight.
Orchard Holiday Park has 160 pitches for touring caravans, tents and motor homes made up of 86 grass pitches and 52 hard-standing pitches.
Orchard Holiday Park is just a 10 minute drive from Yarmouth, a fabulous small town with art galleries, shops, cafes and bars. However, there is plenty to do on the site itself thanks to the indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, table tennis / pool tables, a children’s playground, a cafe, a ball games area and a large shop.
Hendremynach, Gwynedd
Hendremynach is one of the most underrated touring caravan sites in Wales - especially when it comes to location. Within just 10 miles of the park there are river and lake fishing sites, two golf courses, a swimming pool, historic points of interest and mountain biking. The campsite itself is nestled in Llanbedr between the luscious hills and the coast - and offers all the facilities you need for your trip. This includes electric hook-up points, water points, laundrette, washing up facilities, extra large pitches, a kid’s playground, well-kept shower and toilet blocks, WiFi, a shop and a 24 hour help desk. It’s also well worth visiting Shell Island, which is just a 20 minute car drive away - while caravans aren’t allowed on-site, you can get a day ticket which lasts from 8am to 8pm. The beautiful campsite boasts its own enormous beach, as well as a bar and restaurant. Nearby Barmouth is also fantastic for a day out where you can tuck into fresh, local seafood and relax in one of the many charming pubs.Faichemard, Inverness-shire
Faichemard Farm Campsite is exclusively for adults - so it’s a great choice if you’re looking for a relaxing trip in the Highland hills. Family-run since 1935, this campsite is situated right in the middle of the Glengarry Mountains.
There’s plenty of space on this campsite with 35 pitches spread over 4 acres and a picnic table for each pitch. If you’re traveling with a group of friends you can book a pitch that’s relatively close together or if you fancy a more tranquil spot, there are several more secluded pitches to choose from.
The site features a modern launderette, toilets, showers and lots of amazing wildlife such as lizards, rare birds and even red squirrels. Faichemard is only 7 miles from the south side of Loch Ness and the picturesque village of Fort Augustus - so it’s well worth a visit if you’re looking for a truly Scottish caravanning holiday!
