3 Steps for Simple Towbar Fitment

9 July 2021

There are some points to note when booking your vehicle in for a Towbar Fitment through our simple online service. Following these tips will ensure that you receive a fuss-free Towbar Fitment and avoid any unnecessary delays.

1. Check your VIN plate - Your VIN plate is a simple indication of whether your vehicle can or can’t Tow. Every single vehicle has a VIN plate, which is normally located on the driver side or passenger side door frames. Our website tells you where to find the VIN plate on your car. Once you have entered your registration and postcode, you should see a specifications tab where you will find this information.

The VIN plate will tell you the maximum amount your vehicle can tow in Kilograms. If you try to tow over the maximum allowed weight for your individual vehicle then you could damage the chassis and your vehicle.

Despite dealerships advising customers that their vehicles will be able to tow, it is still important to check this information yourself to ensure that you can have a Towbar fitted.

Please note: Logbooks may indicate that a certain make and model of vehicle can tow, however these are not specific to your exact car. The only way to check whether a vehicle can or can’t tow is by checking the VIN plate. You can find more information on how to read your VIN plate here.

2. There are specifications that we need to know about certain vehicles to determine which Towbar to order. These specifications are specific to each individual make and model of car, and a member of our sales team will call you in regard to the information required.

It is important that we are provided with this information as soon as possible to ensure that your Towbar fitment is not delayed, as we order the parts specifically for each booking. If you are aware of model variations it would be appreciated if you add these details whilst going through checkout.

3. If your vehicle has been modified in anyway at all, then please let us know prior to arrival. For example, if you have booked in with a VW Transporter, but the vehicle has been converted into a camper van, then we need to know!

In some cases, we require access to the light clusters to fit the electrics, and if your vehicle is ply-lined then we would need to order a different type of wiring loom to complete the fitment. Sometimes we require imagery of the conversion to determine what we need to order and whether we can fit to the vehicle.

This information is imperative to the fitment and no fitment will be carried out until we have received any requested information.

It is important that you make a note of the above points and provide the relevant information about your vehicle to enjoy a smooth Towbar fitment process from start to finish. If you have any questions regarding the suitability of your vehicle then please don’t hesitate to contact a member of our friendly sales team.

We like to keep things as simple and easy as possible and majority of the time everything goes smoothly! We just want you to enjoy your new Towbar Fitment and new lifestyle possibilities which you'll thank us later for!
