Which Towbar is best for my Volkswagen Tiguan?
The Volkswagen Tiguan has a great choice of towbars available for towing, including the fixed flange towbar, the detachable swan neck towbar and the fixed swan neck towbar.
The fixed flange towbar is often chosen by those who do not wish to remove the Towbar after towing; the compact Towbar is permanent, and removing the bar off the vehicle will invalidate any manufacturers warranty. The flange style towbar is fitted with a backing plate to the rear of the bar, which allows the driver to fit towing accessories to the Towbar by bolting them on. This allows the driver to tow and use the accessory simultaneously. The fixed flange towbar is the only Towbar that caters for bolt-on cycle carriers and bumper protector plates.
The fixed swan neck towbar is a much thinner towbar than the fixed flange and is often picked because of this. The swan neck cannot be removed after towing. This style of Towbar is chosen mainly as it is less likely to interfere with any rear parking sensors; the thinner Towbar allows for more clearance between the rear sensors and the Towbar.
The detachable Towbar is a popular choice for those who have rear parking sensors fitter to their Tiguan. The driver can simply unlock the towbar neck and twist it off when towing has been completed, leaving the Towbar practically invisible. This allows the rear parking sensors to work as expected. The detachable Towbar is also compatible with all ALKO stabilisers and most cycle carriers.
What is the towing capacity on the Volkswagen Tiguan?
The Volkswagen Tiguan has an approximate towing weight of 2200KG; the generous capacity will allow the driver to tow any cycle carriers or trailers and most caravans. Will my Volkswagen Tiguan need a bumper cut?
