Checking your VIN Plate...

Please remember to check your vehicle's towing capacity shown on the VIN plate. If your car doesn't have a towing capacity, we cannot legally fit a Towbar to your vehicle. We recommend you do this before booking, as some vehicles vary throughout make and model (even though we may show some available).

What's the Towing Capacity for a Peugeot 2008?

The Peugeot 2008 has an average towing capacity of around 1,200KG. This capacity will allow the driver to tow a trailer, cycle carriers or a small caravan. To determine an accurate capacity for your 2008, please refer to your VIN plate that is located under the bonnet or on the passenger door sill. When deciding on what to tow it is important to not surpass the vehicle's towing capacity as this could lead to damage to the vehicle or the towbar becoming unhitched.

Which Towbar is best for my Peugeot 2008?

There are three different styles of towbars for the Peugeot 2008, a fixed swan neck towbar, a fixed flange towbar and a detachable swan neck towbar.

The fixed swan and fixed flange towbar are both permanent styles of towbar that cannot be removed at the end of towing. The fixed flange is a chunky towbar that is fitted with a rear plate that allows drivers to attach towing accessories to the plate whilst freeing up the tow ball to use for towing.

The fixed flange towbar is compatible with all styles of cycle carriers, trailers, and caravans. However, when towing a caravan with an ALKO stabiliser, an ALKO towball must be purchased before towing. The fixed swan neck towbar is also compatible with trailers, caravans, and clamp-on style towbars.

The fixed swan neck towbar is ALKO compatible meaning, no ALKO towball is required when towing a caravan with an ALKO towball. The fixed swan neck towbar is a thin towbar that allows for a larger clearance between where the towbar sits and where rear parking sensors are placed, making it much less likely to infer with the sensors when the vehicle is placed in reverse and not towing.

The detachable swan neck is the only style of towbar that can be removed once towing has been completed. The detachable swan neck is also ALKO compatible and can be used with ALKO stabilisers without the requirement for an ALKO towball. The detachable swan neck is the perfect choice for vehicles equipped with rear parking sensors, as once towing has been completed the towbar neck easily detaches from its housing leaving the remnants of the towbar practically invisible. The Peugeot 2008 will reform back to its pre-towbar state and allow the parking sensors to continue working as intended.

If you have any queries about what towbar is best suited to your Peugeot 2008, our friendly sales team are on hand to guide you through your decision and find the perfect match.

Will it need a bumper cut?

When fitting any of the three towbars to the Peugeot 2008 a small non-visible bumper cut will be made to the vehicle's undertray. The bumper cut will only be visible when looking underneath the vehicle and is therefore classed as a non-visible bumper cut. If your Peugeot 2008 has been modified or was built with a non-standard bumper this could lead to a larger cut may be larger. The informative towbar engineer will discuss all modifications before the fitment commences.
